Castle of the Living Dead daybill - often misdescribed

Castle of the Living Dead is a daybill that has confused many over the years. It is generally referred to as the 1964 Italian/French film titled Castle of the Living Dead but that is not correct. I believe that it was actually printed for the British film Nothing But the Night apparently retitled for the Australian release in the mid 1970s.

Comments

  • What does it say in the fine print at the bottom there?
  • That has the names of the cast:

Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing, Diana Dors and Georgia Brown.

  • Thanks...am at work today so can't access a lot of sites :(
  • You are spot on John. Nothing But The Night was also released in Canada Under The title of The Castle Of The Living Dead. The confusion with the two films isn't helped by Christopher Lee starring in both. Of interest is that the film was passed by the Australian censor in 1972 under the title of Nothing But The Night with the applicant being MGM BEF Film Distributors so the title change has happened after this.
  • Darn it...can't access IMDB...but wouldn't this be easily resolved by cross referencing cast members in each?
  • DOH...missed Lawrence's post...move along, nothing to see here...
  • It appears the original titled Castle Of The Living Dead from 1964 was possibly banned in Australia or never taken up for release here.
