La belle et la bête (1946)

There are some posters you come across that you never forget. You file the images in the back of your mind and quietly tell yourself eventually you’ll get around to them. This was the case with La Belle et la bête.  After reading some posts in December of 2012 about the French Grande over on APF. I decided to finally do something about the situation. I first acquired the French double Panel in August of 2013. At this point I had no intention of purchasing the French Grande for this title. However, when the opportunity arose this past February to acquire it. I had no choice but to get it. For me both posters reflect the beauty and imagination of the film.

  • These are both hard finds... You must tell us your secrets!
  • Gorgeous posters there. The artwork on them are wonderful.
  • Those are AMAZING. Way out of my league though. Even more remarkable that you were able to obtain them within such a short span of time. Any plans to display them?
  • Amazing stuff Michael!
  • I'm guessing these are the re-releases from 2012, but I never knew they did a 2 panel. I must pick up one of those.

    Jollyfine stuff Michael.

    1980 rerelease

The original plan was to frame the big poster, but since its in two pieces, that proved to be a problem. The poster is in such awesome shape that I refuse to put it on linen. Therefore it makes the piece tougher to frame. There are certain tricks a framer can utilize to frame the piece, but I’m not comfortable with them, so the big guy is packed away for now. The grande is next in line to be framed right after the Barbarella 40x60. I want to see how the Barbarella turns out first, because I’m using optium museum plexi on that one and if I like it. I will frame the grande in the same way. The grande will go where the Lady From Shanghai currently resides.

  • Jollyfine find then Michael, they are scarce beasties... The condition is fantastic for the age of them, hence thinking they were recent.
  • Very nice both Michael!
  • The double panel is one of my favourite ever posters, just stunning.

Unfortunately my budget only stretches to a 2013 re-release, but I'm happy with that :) Love the art.
  • the double panel has been on a semi-wants for me for years (I won't pay the price) and it an outsanding poster.
But let me tell ya, what I really like is that side table with the radiating slats.. damn cool piece
