Posting Images - A Video (warning, some nudity)

edited February 2015 in Hey Newbie...
I apologise for the size of the video - you can watch it on YouTube (click the YouTube logo at the bottom of the video) and it will be fine or watch it here. To view it better (here) go full screen by pressing the little square icon at the bottom right of the video once you've started playing it - it may be blurry initially but the video will re-focus for you after a couple of seconds.

I still need more nudity, but good cleavage is an acceptable palliative.

    Thanks Dave!!!!!!!

Yeah the wife just did this over my shoulder...  Her exact words were "woah!, what was that???".
  • That vid explains it..............I'm not swishing the cursor around in circles..
  • something... http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p501/PaulWaines/game pics/PICT1198_zpsj1sen0u9.jpg this still seems a chew on, and I've had to do it differently to the vid.
  • when I paste to the box nothing happens.......

Paul: when in your Photobucket (on a single image) don't paste the URL (the link at the top of the browser) look to the right of the image, there's a Share Links box. You then [left] click in the one that says 'Direct

As soon as you left click it will then say copied and then you come back here and paste into the image box after clicking the following icon (which is above your text box)

There is actually a small difference between the link you paste (in your comment above) which is the URL in the browser and the one you need to click to copy to paste, as you can see:

    http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p501/PaulWaines/game 20pics/PICT1198_zpsj1sen0u9.jpg
    http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/p501/PaulWaines/game % 20pics/PICT1198_zpsj1sen0u9.jpg

The difference is the % which in the URL you are copying (and then paste in the image box) is the space (between words) but has to be replaced with a % symbol when pasting code or it will break the code and it will not recognise the link - you can see how your example above is a broken link.

How do we post a link to another web page without the long address by hiding that address in a highlighted link?  With fewer words.
  • edited March 2015
Copy the URL (link) then type in the word(s) eg go here, highlight the word that you want to link then click the chain icon above and paste the URL in the box that pops up (replace the http:// that is already in the box).

    Go here

  • I tried that, it's not the same as the old way. I must be doing something wrong.

Ok, it worked...I must be tired.

Edit..nope says web page not available
  • Where did you get that URL (link) from - you didn't copy it from the website because you have put:

    http//

    instead of

    http://

    the colon
  • I copied it from the top of the page while viewing the website.

  • Got it!
  • When the http is not highlighted in the chain drop down box it doesn't work. When it is highlighted, right click and paste then click OK.

We've asked the software owners to switch back to the old editor, unfortunately this is deprecated and may be affected by future upgrades to the software, if this happens then we will will have no choice to switch to the new editor.

Upgrading software is a fact of life and is done for security reasons as much as for offering the latest design features, failure to keep up to date can cause problems just as changing can, there are plenty of examples of this happening elsewhere.  Whilst it is true change can be dramatic perhaps recent upgrades issues were more of understanding rather than design.

I guess we need to be clearer about these changes, have more instructional videos and also increase the nudity in them, all future instructional videos will be shot in the nude by Charlie, Matt and/or David.

I know you are looking forward to it...
  • Ummm, I don't think I voted on this nudist thingy....
