Has anyone ever seen any Aus posters on this title? Released in US as Monkey Business.
I want to say yes...but seriously, my memory is failing me badly! In the early days, I never really paid that close attention to grabbing images etc...
I can't be certain, and could certainly be getting it mixed up with something else.
I have never seen an image of Be Your Age so it is indeed rare. I am still looking for an image of An Affair To Remember, another rare Cary Grant daybill.
An Affair To Remember daybill (this could have been done MUCH better, considering the nice artwork that done & used on the AU one sheet. (Emovie, tho, does describe this as a stock poster):
There was a very nice daybill of An Affair To Remember printed for the original 1957 release and I did sight it many years ago. This poster is the only example I have ever sighted. The version you have shown is a stock poster printed years later that includes the image of some 1959 titles. From memory the original daybill had a white background.
As Young As You Feel ( 1951 ) is another rare poster to find Australian paper for. Bruce sold a daybill in the past and is the only image of Australian paper of this title I remember seeing. The image of Marilyn isn't the greatest though. On saying that I am surprised the poster in very good condition only sold for $44 in 2011.
An interesting piece of information is although Marilyn Monroe's name is credited on the U.S. insert and other paper her name has been left off the daybill. The reduced amount of credits on 20th Century Fox daybills was common in the 1950s. I am wondering if Marilyn's name being left off the daybill would have contributed to what I consider a very conservative price realised as not being higher.
Not long ago there was a daybill on ebay where MM was pictured but not credited. All I can remember is four floating heads at the top with MM on the far right.
The poster in question is Let's Make It Legal from 1951. As was the case with another early Australian daybill from 20th Century Fox All About Eve ( 1951 ), and unlike the U.S. posters where name credits appear as well as images, in Australia on the two daybills only images and no name credits appear.
I will shorty write about some early Marilyn Monroe daybills where an image appears but with no name credit and also where name credit does appear but without any image. U.S. paper in all cases has both.
We have spoken about Let's Make it Legal daybill from 1951 and The Asphalt Jungle daybill ( 1950 ) RR1954 previously.
Apart from the Australian daybill images not found for certain early films let us mention the daybills that have been sighted that Marilyn appeared in that are missing either name credits or images on the posters. Both name and images appear on U.S. paper of the titles.
As Young As You Feel ( 1951 ) daybill has large image but no name credit appears.
All About Eve ( 1950 ) daybill has an image but no name credit appears.
O'Henry's Full House ( 1952 ) daybill had a name credit appearing but no image although on Australian one sheet there is an image as well as the name credit.

Nope.
Ugh!
I want to say yes...but seriously, my memory is failing me badly! In the early days, I never really paid that close attention to grabbing images etc...
I can't be certain, and could certainly be getting it mixed up with something else.
The poster, as mentioned, is quite nice:
There are a few of Marilyn's early posters, where she was billed on oversea artwork that we appear to be missing images of in daybill form.
Apart from Be Your Age ( Monkey Business ) there is also We're Not Married, Love Nest and The Fireball. Anyone every sighted them ?
:Let's add the original 1950 daybill version of The Asphalt Jungle to the wants list.
Sounds great.
I will? Great...which one?
Any of the five I mentioned above if you happen to have any of them ?
No I don't have any of them...unless Matt knows something I don't???
I think he is getting LOVE NEST confused with LOVE HAPPY...
That I am!
