Scene Style One Sheets.

Kim ( 1950 ) & Easter Parade ( 1948 ), which was released in Australia in 1949, were both different scene style Australian one sheets. I am curious, as I cannot recollect ever seeing any other MGM Australian one sheets printed in this style. Both, it appears to me would have been printed by the same unknown printer and both are minus the MGM logo used at that period of time.

  • I can't think of any either.  Are they original first release posters? Would these have been the only style released for each film, or might they have had another style?  What do the daybills look like?

In reply to the above questions this is what I know and think.

I don't believe that the Easter Parade scene style poster was printed for the initial 1949 Australian release or that the Kim scene style poster was printed for it's 1950 release.

Easter Parade's original Australian poster was the same as the U.S. first release style D poster and was printed by Offset Printing Co. In the case of Kim I have never sighted another style apart from the one I have shown on this thread.

Notice that both the two posters are without printer's credits or the  MGM logo appearing on the posters.

My thoughts are that perhaps both posters were either follow up second printings by the same printer or later re-release paper.

I have never sighted any daybills of any style of the two titles.

  • Sorry, to lazy to put just the picture in, but John has this one sheet for Easter Parade:

  • John's one sheet poster is the same as the U.S. style D one sheet that I had mentioned earlier.
