January 2018

Alright, I'm an attention aficionado, get to start yet another month!

*****

Overanalyzing it, it represents the steep, uncertain path they're taking against the Nixon Administration.

The Post

*****

Blue Crush

This poster sucks (!) everybody is thinking....

Naw, it's really cool, blue motif/Blue Crush!

No, it really does suck, no good excuse....

*****

I bought The Post and foolishly perused the seller's other 5,000 posters (!) and picked out these three MPs that struck my fancy:

Dark Tower

Now You See Me 2

Goldmember (recalled for ripping off JB)

  • I can see one good excuse on the Blue Crush Poster - The same reason I have it: Kate Bosworth...

    Nice contemporaries, Mel!

-The Post is repetitive of course but cool-your interpretation is valid-....all of course after LBJ left.
    -Blue Crush, is well....Blue Crush
-Now You See Me 2 is a very clever design. Would like to own that one.

Yeah, good to see artists can still use their brain when designing a poster.

  • Back to the Future 2

    Geisha

Ballets Russes - no clue what this is about....

Step Into Liquid: Always wanted to be a surfer, but was landlocked several hours from pitiful US East Coast waves....

  • Man...  I need you to go through my collection.  I have two of these in storage collecting dust.
  • I've been buying a lot of Liz Taylor but I'm holding off from sharing...

Did pick up some lobbies for Weird Science:

  • WAY too many pics of Kelly LeBrock  B)

  • You'd never guess, but it's a full-size 1S commercial poster from Poland.

Guess I gotta watch the flick now.....

  • Great cars, great actor, great movie....
  • Excuse the poor image, however having mislaid my phone, I've had to use an older spare with a very basic camera. Will update with better images shortly.

A nice couple of longbill's for Charlie Chan and for one I'd never heard of Radio Pirates.

  • Another B&W poster marketing a color film. Also notable bc Chastain is 40yo, playing a 26yo.

  • @Wil. Nice long Daybills. Like the clock tower!

Thanks mate, I actually think the 'clock tower' is Big Ben.  B)

Just got this one in for my collection from Dale yesterday!

Ha, Ford just unveiled the 50th Anniversary Bulllit Mustang:

    https://media.ford.com/content/fordmedia/fna/us/en/news/2018/01/14/50th-anniversary-mustang-bullitt.html

Here's a short video featuring his 30yo granddaughter Molly McQueen, driving VERY unsafely through a parking garage:

With the actual Mustang used in the movie, which will be auctioned later:

  • With Winter Olympics coming up:

Downhill Racer (1969 US 1S SSF)

  • Nice Redford! good condition as well.

Here's my latest pickup I'm proud of.
Bataan-Italian Locandia....it's not nearly as sweet as Matt's Daybill, but as it's cousin, I like it and the price was right!

I  actually bought it in part, to restore an Italian Locanda.  With my goal being to restore my Winchester 73. Bataan seems to have the same tack mark stains on it so I'll practice on it before hitting the Winchester 73.

  • Should both pop with a good wash too!
  • I guess Superman 1 is unknown to the millennial crowd, but WW director says she used it as a model for WW, light tone, humor, dash of romance....

    Superman (1978 US 1S SSF):

Circus Girl (1954 US 1S SSF):

  • Nice condition Superman. Like it-I've always wanted to get one.
  • Received shipments from Heritage and emovieposter yesterday.  My Fred and Ginger collection is coming along.

I also picked up three heavily trimmed 42nd Street cards for under $20.  This is the best of the three.  The missing paper is just 3 squiggly lines and a bit of text, so I am thinking about sending it out for repair and backing.

  • Like it Jay. Classy!

    Love the Tigers Mel.

  • Finally, the postman came. It's been a while.

    Japanese B2 Dam Busters

10 Photobustas for Guns of Navarone 1967 RR. The originals are hard to come by. I have one at least.

  • Oh they came with the original envelope too.

  • Wonderful Fred/Ginger Lobbies @jay_j great color! and 42nd St is very cool trimmed!

    Nice Italians @Matt

  • From EMP 2nite, went 2-0 (but no bargains, mistyped one bid):

Pulp Fiction (1994 JB2 SSR):More menacing than the US MP:

    *****

    Pan's Labyrinth (2007 JB2 SSR): Loverly....
