Help identifying a very tall poster! Buster Crabbe

This poster is nearly 10' tall, I can't find anything on it, been googling for two days.  Any help would be appreciated, unfortunately it was mounted on foam board, but I am considering buying it.  They are asking $2500

  • The poster if of an American 1933 film King Of The Jungle. Buster Crabbe played the lead character ''The Lion Man'' in the film.

The poster appears to have originated from Austria.
  • Thanks for the info.  I am still shocked at the size of the poster, its like 10' tall, I can't find any comparisons
  • The poster is clearly signed E. Vogl.  It is an interesting fact  but doesn't help in any way.

  • It is Austrian. Someone found a LOT of different ones around 50 years ago, and many were linenbacked, but mounting on foamcore was a disastrous decision, as it would cost a fortune to ship.

Most of these do terribly at auction, because they are too tall for 99.9% of all houses.

Personally, I would not buy it at any price, but to each his own.

Here is a handy checklist to help tell eMoviePoster.com apart from all other major auctions!
HAS lifetime guarantees on every item - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS unrestored and unenhanced images - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS 100% honest condition descriptions - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS auctions where the winner is the higher of two real bidders - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS "buyers premiums" - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS "reserves or starts over $1 - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS hidden bidder IDs - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS no customer service to speak of - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS "nosebleed" shipping charges - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS inadequate packaging - NOT eMoviePoster.com

  • Thanks for the info Bruce, this is exactly what I was looking for, if the price were much lower on these I would be more likely to invest into them.
  • I think $2500 for a foam-backed poster is way over the mark.

Yes indeed. The foamcore backing devalues it hugely.
