(Quote) Great job on the magnifying glass

Question Justin; you state, “During the process (specifically once Acetic Acid is sprayed on the Cal Hypo bleach mix), this bubbling occurs”
Are you providing a good rinse of the poster after the Cal Hypo bleach spray? If n… -

Great job on Sullivans! Inspiring!

(Quote) Nice, Charlie! Congrats!

Looks good, Duke!

my two cents; only restore if necessary or a simple linenback/paperback to help frame. As someone with limited skills, I enjoy helping the paper/poster to last a little longer; washing rehydrates the fibers, deacid bath pushes the acids out and a ni…

Isnt that the "european" style of restoration?

Great results Duke! you should post some before pictures. but the posters your working on are very nice!
-
Awesome! Looking forward to seeing the story unfold!

Last Outlaw is just fantastic!!! what a great looking poster!
-
all nice backing jobs Duke! Looks like you've got a handle on laying the poster down. Keep up the good work!
-
I make a full gallon of deacid which is enough for a one sheet. 6g/L i think.
-
NO! No more brayer! I use one for smoothing out the masa, but not anymore when the poster gets laid down. Too much pressure on the poster/fold lines.
-
WAY TO GOOOOOO! Looks really good!!! Steady now...let it dry before burnishing those fold lines.

2 grams per liter i think is what the literature indicates, but i'd check first.

This screen shot took me 3 mins to find.

Duke, it’s all online. This site answers all the questions you’ll need to restore paper. I printed so many chapters and read. Charlie certainly clarified and helped a great deal, but you’ll get a much more broad view of other techniques available. <…

I’ve only used MC a few times and only as an infill compound. That said, I think it does act as an adhesive, but from my understanding it’s not as strong and i certainly wouldn’t use it as a substitute for wheat paste where wheat paste is traditiona…

LC, like any paper can be deacidified, or bleached depending on the card; the LC is thicker than other paper's such as a one sheet or daybill or most other foreign papers, so maybe soak's or spray's need to stay on longer? I had a hard time cleaning…

that's three steps, but seems the right steps; only paperbacked 2-3 pieces, but they all turned out nicely. Masa papers is a little rigid/stiff, need to try mulberry one of these days.

Happy Birthday, Charlie! Have a great day buddy!

which video? Not posterfix….. -
(Quote) GENIUS! And there you have it! Nice and concise Charlie! Not to be over complicated-rinse both sides, squeegee both sides and your good to lay it down on the Masa, or Mulberry.

Mildred is fantastic! Great movie as well!

What size poster is that? A one sheet? It’s going to be fun to piece it together after it’s washed and needs to be laid down. The best I’ve done is three pieces for a daybill and it was a really difficult wash and piecing together. You think after y…

(Quote) Some before & after pics would be nice to see.

Just build several frames and the whole staples driving into metal won’t be an issue. Maybe after 50 poster on a single frame….I just take 10 mins and remove most of my staples….
