Re: Missing Australian daybill posters of the 1950s.
Proof that the following Bitter Springs (1950) Australian daybill wasn't, as often claimed to be, printed for the original 1950 Australian release follows below.

The above version isn't a full colour W.E. Smith printed design by the confirmed poster artist Aub Mosely. Next it doesn't have the Released in Australia by Eagle Lion. Distributed by B.E.F. credit that was in place on some product at that time. Examples of this appearing on Bitter Springs advertising follow below.

(Trove/ NLA)
Some other examples of the Eagle Lion/BEF Australian distribution details in place around that period of time follow with details appearing on Golden Salamander and Morning Departure daybills.

To sum up the below poster version in question printed by F. Cunninghame is a later 1950's printed second printing.

Re: Rare Australian Posters Of Australian Films
The next film to include here is Journey Among Women from 1977.

Australian daybill and one sheet.

Seven Australian lobby card images appear above,. For the record there is one other sighted card that I am unable to include the image of here. This card has the same image that appears on the Australian daybill and the one sheet as it appears above.

Re: The Science Fiction Quiz
You certainly know your vehicles. Yes 256 is indeed the 1956 version of 1984, and well done.jayn_j said:I found it interesting is that the helicopter is a Bell 47 with a modified bubble for the film. Same helicopter used in M*A*S*H (and Korean war)
And the other one is from the 1956 version of 1984. The motorcycles are Vincent Black Shadows.
This version had two completely different endings when originally screened in the UK and the USA. I have seen both versions, with one sticking to the original George Orwell book, with the other version completely changed.

Re: Yeah, so, I am watching this..,
I agree, I’ve never been a fan of him, but this series is superb. I especially liked “The Oner” ep 2, and "The Golden Globes".
Full of lots of in jokes, but very witty too.
Series 2 is on the way.

Re: Hondo's This And That
I have managed to make contact with a knowledgeable person regarding the sending of prints from Australia to overseas destinations. Tying up a few loose ends, but details will be made available soon.

Re: Hondo's Daybill and One Sheet Q&A [Re-Titled]
Some good thinking there. It's Magic was a massive hit song that Doris sang in the film.dedeposter said:Doris Day had an album released called “It’s Magic”, could it have been printed for that?
The film was titled Romance on The High Seas when released in the U,S,A, This title was changed when it was released overseas in other countries some time after this including in the U.K. (IMDb source) and in Australia,
All records located show that the film was only titled It's Magic when released here in Australia some time after the American release..
I do believe that after the U.S, release took place that due to the huge success of the song that the title was altered to It's Magic to be able cash in on this.
The Romance On The High Seas daybill would appear to have been printed before the title change, and this copy was not destroyed at the time of the title change.
Both the It's Magic And Romance On The high Seas daybills are extremely rare. The two copies of the posters that I have included here are the only ones that I am aware of.

An Australian newspaper advertisement placed in Perth on May 26,1950.
