Re: Hondo's This And That
Mad Max ( 1979 ) Australian orange version one sheet.
I am a regular viewer of the American Pawn Stars reality television series ( 2009 - 2021 ). For anyone that is unaware of this series it is about Rick Harrison's Gold And Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas that mainly covers it's everyday sales transactions of interesting items brought into the shop by customers

Recently I viewed a 2017 episode of the series where a woman brought into the shop a framed Australian orange MAPS Litho Pty. Ltd. printed 27'' x 40'' one sheet. When asked what she wanted to receive for the poster for it she said $10,000. Although not a Mad Max fan she had originally paid $10,000 for it.
As the value of the poster wasn't known the pawn shop called in a poster expert. The expert was David A. Lieberman, the owner and founder of Cinemasterpieces, which has long sold vintage movie posters, and is well known in the industry,. He mentioned that this orange colour poster style was the rarest version and estimated to have had only a printing run of between 75 to 100. David on examining the poster confirmed that the poster was authentic, and when a similar poster was last sold it realised $4,000.
The woman was then offered $3,000 for the poster by the pawn shop worker that she declined.. The lady left with the poster stating she would hang on to the poster, and hopefully eventually make a profit when selling the poster at a later time.
( A & E )As the printing run of only 75 to 100 is commonly mentioned, and some members dispute this, I though this story would be of interest here. I think it was very ambitious for the woman to have paid $10,000 for the poster in the first place.
I often wonder where this 75 to 100 number originally originated from There is no proof this was the case, but this number is commonly thrown around,

Re: Hondo's This And That
( Rick )Wonder Man ( 1945 ) original Australian daybill, followed by a 1955 Australian re-release daybill poster.
( john )Up In Arms ( 1944 ) Original Australian daybill, followed by a 1952 re-release poster using the same design as the earlier Wonder Man re-release poster.
Both the two re-release daybills have the following Distributed By RKO Radio Pictures logo, and also a Simmons Litho Sydney printer's credit. These applications were from the 1950's only.

RKO daybills from the 1940's, as seen below, had the following RKO Radio Picrures logo, along with a Simmons Ltd Litho Sydney printer's credit.

Original 1945 U.S.A Wonder Man poster image of Danny Kaye that is similar to the one used on the two Australian re-release daybills.

Re: Rockabilly's poster collection
Money to pay bills? Save for retirement? Aw hell naw. Collecting knows no financial responsibility. I can quit anytime I want (he says as he sits in a dark corner, rocking back and forth). At any rate, on with the show. You didn't shell out your $0.10 at the door to hear me babble. First off, this one is outside of my typical poster collecting parameter. It's 70's and motorcycle themed, neither of which I usually collect. But it was priced right, has a good title, and groovy graphics. Sold.

This poster and the one above may have been as a result of the same search (wheels). This one is so full of WTF? it's great. It ain't gonna win any poster design awards, but it could be in the running for title of the year with any of the stuff I'm likely to purchase. Again, year-wise (1999) not something I'd normally collect, but I have Redneck Zombies and Zombie Strippers, so this will go well with them.

Okay, back to the land of normal, or stuff I'd normally collect at least. Predictable fare for me, but another I can check off the list.

And lastly for now, the auction for this trimmed window card was going pretty cheaply, so I thought I'd throw a bid in and ended up winning. It should be a good companion for my Disc Jockey insert.

VMPF is a tad quiet these days. Hopefully y'all are happy, healthy, safe and having fun doing other stuff. Until next time...
