Screaming Bone-Crushing Horror Quiz.

Bruce is currently auctioning a stock poster daybill titled Screaming Bone-Crushing Horror which is completely blank apart from the title printed on the poster. It is being called 1960s but I have just advised Bruce it is in fact 1970s. I have also advised him of the distributor's name, the reason for the poster and two of the films names depicted on the daybill. Would anyone like to have a go and identify any of the film titles from the attached two images?

  • Hondo, could you tell us who you think the distributor is and why you feel it is 1970s. Bruce hasn't adjusted the auction details as yet.
  • There is a film image from 1973 and one from 1974 included in the poster. The distributor is Roadshow. I only sent off the email to Bruce this morning and as it is only Sunday there at the moment I would imagine Bruce will change it sometime tomorrow morning our time.

Vincent Price Ves if only minor but it is still Vincent.

  • 70s sounds right but how do you know that Roadshow is the distributor? Just curious!

Just identified a third film from the stock poster in question  and this one is a 1972 release. All of the three films I have now identified  were released in Australia by Roadshow. There aren't as many films depicted in the poster as one would think as multiple images from the same film are used. I have worked out about 60% of the images and the remaining 40% are bound to be from Roadshow films particually the Vincent Price ones.
  • Found a fourth image from a 1970 film released in Australia in 1972 by Roadshow also. Noticed Bruce has sold six of the same daybill poster images previously so I have also made him aware of this.
  • Madhouse, Tales from the crypt, Dracula AD, Blacula.

Will do the rest when I get home....
  • Madhouse ( released in Australia as The Revenge Of Dr. Death )  & Dracula A.D. 1972 are correct.

On the right track with Blacula but....

Tales Of The Crypt is what I originally thought but it is from the wrong distributor.

  • Scream Blacula Scream.

    Scream Blacula Scream is correct.

Have a look at the supersize image on Bruce's site at the very top of the poster for a film that could well be be missed as looking at the image above it tends to be lost.

I am sure a lot of members have these posters in their collections.

  • Another couple of  images are  from the  Roadshow release of Cry Of The Banshee ( 1970 ) but was only passed by the Australian censor on the 1st of December, 1972.

Thanks...I've seen this one pop up on ebay a fair bit, never really gave it much thought...

  • There are two images of female vampires baring their fangs on the poster. Anyone have the daybills they are from?
  • How come when I try to zoom in the images get smaller?  As I think I see Vampire Circus. but need a closer image.

Zooming is not a forum software feature (on any forum) it is a browser feature. To zoom in for most browsers either:

[a] hold down the Ctrl button and scroll the wheel on your mouse (one way or another).

[b] hold down the Ctrl button and press the + button multiple times until you get to the desired size.

You will only be able to make the image so big before they become too blurry. To reset hold the Ctrl button down and press 0 on your keyboard (the number zero).

If you are on an Apple then tough cookies, I'm no Apple fan-boi...
  • That is how I do it, the page gets bigger but not the picture?? most odd.
  • Because this site is 'responsive' that is, designed to (resize itself) to fit on any screen or any mobile or tablet so there is a point when the image will not get any bigger because the forum is trying to make the entire forum fit the screen size you are zooming. eg if you are on APF which is not mobile friendly yes you can make the image bigger because the forum is a fixed size - the downsize of that is it will not fit on your mobile, tablet etc. This is the same issue

If you are using Chrome as your browser then I suggest you right click and 'open image in new tab' - then zoom normally.

I have checked out Vampire Circus and it hasn't any of the images on it that appear on the stock poster plus the film is 20th Century Fox and not Roadshow. Thanks for trying though.

So your saying modern sometimes isn't better..
  • Is that a No it isn't... =)
  • I believe the fifth film that images appear on the poster are from Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter ( 1974 ). So far it appears images from the poster are all  from Roadshow with the five films being released in Australia between 1972 and 1974. Still a couple of images that continue to elude me. If anyone has any Roadshow horror film dayills from this period please check them out. One of the Vincent Price images presents a problem in identifying along with a couple of female images.
  • Help required. I have an image here of a woman ( Vampire? ) with what looks like a large bird above her head. Any ideas?

  • Maybe these images might be a bit clearer

Thanks John for his much clearer images but for this image the very top of this image the head of the bird has been cropped. With the two images hopefully someone will recognise the film this scene comes from. On the clear images of Johns the images I wish to identify are all from the larger picture. The ones I am trying to identify are the female vampire top left hand corner just under Vincent Price then under her Vincent Price and the creepy old house then the female vampire with eyes looking up just left of Christopher Lee's Dracula in the top right hand corner. All the rest I have identified except I am not happy about the skull at the bottom of the smaller image.
  • No idea...I looked, but couldn't find anything.
  • No idea...I looked, but couldn't find anything.

    Thanks for looking.
  • I believe the sixth film image I have now identified  from the stock poster is from another Roadshow film and this one being The Deathmaster ( 1972 ).
  • I will have to retract what I said earlier that I believed Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter was from the stock poster. It is what I believed at the time but the image I was basing this one can be viewed two ways and I now realise the image is from The Deathmaster. The remaining four images that were identified earlier are definitely correct. This means we now have five Roadshow films identified but still a few more films to go.
  • I am interested in obtaining some information regarding this image which happens to be the profile picture on this forum posted by elvisrock69 so I hope he doesn't mind me using it.

Regarding the drawing of Vincent Price holding a candle in the centre of the image I would like to know if the film the drawing is copied from is listed with the poster and if so I would love to know the film's title. The answer may help me with one of my threads on the forum.
