  • Things will be too cheap if you aren't playing Reg!
  • Not at all, I'm just a humble modest collector. In saying that the least amount of collectors not participating in this auction could be a plus for you Dave, you could certainly have a day out and land some posters at bargain prices. :)
  • I could...but I dropped my wallet laughing so hard when you referred to yourself "just a humble modest collector".  :D

I see Bruce has named his auction in June a Major one, maybe he should rename this one to just a Mini cause there ain't much in it.

Yes...agree. I can't see much in it. Maybe need to change my glasses... :-B

Incidentally. ..i love HA, seeing all those monster posters coming out to play. But i do hope Bruce & other dealers and auction houses can do well too. HA needs some healthy competition. ...
  • Well watching from my small sandbox, I agree-competition is good! Although I wish EMP's auction had some unbacked pieces...

Yep agree Mark go for unrestored. I know you are concerned about wallpaper paste.. for me it's more of the restoration performed particularly when it's so well done Some restorers are so good with airbrushing borders I find it hard to tell if borders are torn , chipped or missing ....auction houses sometimes miss too from experience.
  • Yeah the wallpaper paste is a concern-just wish restored posters came with the id of "who done it." It would give me more confidence...but what do I know. HA sold over 2 million in paper that was mostly backed by unknowns... ....I would guess that 80-90% of the time it's great quality work. Have never bought a backed poster so can't say from experience...

The hobby is incredibly small, and the reality is there is probably room for only one like HA, the best the rest can hope for is to keep them on their toes.

Bruce is certainly No. 2 due to volume but he's probably only averaging around $20/$30 per poster so not much better than most of the rest - that's a lot of work for such a small return. But his is a successful template so why change even if there is more and more competition taking little chunks.

Volume is right...he offers such a great variety every month I'm not sure I see EMP competing with HA as its broad range of products attracts different clientele.

That was the idea David. :)
  • As long as HA charges TX sales tax, EMP rules... Nothing like a 30% bp to discourage a buyer. That being said anyone want to be my buyer???
  • Charlie, it's an old and 'no one wins' argument, if BP discouraged the buyer then there'd be no HA.

Not so sure state sales tax is their fault tho?
  • Not their fault certainly but it puts residents of Texas (like Charlie) at a relative disadvantage to other non-resident bidders...
  • .....i am dying to see Bruce's part III. ..hope there's something there for me..... [-O<
  • Nothing for me there.... :-S

If anyone here knows that Ma500969 do please tell her or him to flop off. That guy /woman is grabbing all the silent films posters. I am not angry. I am a pacifist. I am not angry. I am a pacifist. b-(

Betting it's not going to be the premium stuff over a 2 month period. Be fund to see tho' - did he collect Daybills?

According to his site he had 138 Australia posters.
