  • In 1991, Debbie was trying to get her museum going, and she invited me to her house to talk about it. We sat in her little living room, her in her housecoat and scarf over her hair, and it was like just "one friend talking to another".

Later, she invited my wife and me to dinner at a ritzy restaurant, and she showed up looking every bit the great Hollywood star she was. She was a very fine lady who was supremely talented, and my heart goes out to her family.

  • So sad to see them both go. R.I.P.
  • Very sad. God speed both...

Very nice story Bruce, thanks for sharing...as i was a young kid when Star Wars came out in '77, Princess Leia was a big deal to me.
  • Very sad.
  • Very sad to see these two Hollywood icons leave us.
    Absolutely heartbreaking.

''Bright Lights Starring Carrie fisher And Debbie Reynolds'' ( 2016 ). Only just watched this marvelous HBO documentary, only released on American television on the 7th of January, 2017. It is a shame both Debbie and Carrie never got to see it. Seek it out if you get the chance. In Australia it will be screened again on Foxtel's Showcase channel again.
  • Really want to see this one.  Will have to hunt it out.
  • Will definitely look for it. I am sure both would have seen it tho.

I certainly hope so. The release would have been pushed forward, I am wondering if Todd ( a producer ) was holding back the finished product until Carrie's return from the U.K. for the family to view together? I'm sure Debbie and Carrie would have seen the documentary in some unfinished form or another though.

I watched Bright Lights on Foxtel last night, not riveting but quite enjoyable. Definitely shows the bond between mother and daughter. Quite sad when you know the result as it were.

The collection of Debbie's was a reminder of just a few years ago, and she didn't want to auction it or at least parts of it that's for sure and Todd Fisher's collection of movie posters all framed and on his wall in his own house which apparently tells the story of the family through the links from one film to the next was fun to see.

Those who aren't too aware of Debbie probably won't appreciate it the same or if you are solely watching for Carrie's appearances.

  • I watched it as well and was astonished how up until the end Debbie was all class (while Carrie was raunchy)... Also didn't know that Carrie could sing so beautifully either...
