VMPF Members Meet

I am not sure we've started this type of thread but I had the wonderful experience of meeting Mark (Eisenhower) and his wonderful wife and son. Mark was gracious enough to pick me up from my hotel and we spent hours talking about posters and linenbacking - even getting to work on his most recent poster over a couple of cold ones.  Then they treated me to a traditional American meal of grilled ribeye steak (with home made steak sauce), mashed potatoes, chips and guacamole and an ice cream sundae for dessert. As I sat there stuffed experiencing their kindness and hospitality, I couldn't help thinking of what a wonderful bunch we are...

Thanks Mark for welcoming me and I hope I can return the favor one day...

Your very welcome, Charlie! It was my pleasure to finally meet you. After conversing over the forum for almost two years, and by email as I gained so much poster restoration knowledge, it was great to finally meet you!

Whenever i happen to tell people about this movie poster forum I frequent every day, I tell them what nice people they, those collectors of paper. To meet one of those people was great. Thanks for taking the time to meet me & my family. I hope I am in Houston one of these days soon to meet your family as well.

Finally, thanks for lending a helping hand and passing on your knowledge regarding restoration, I'm excited to try the new methods!

Charlie at work on Seven Brides... =)

    Thanks again, bud!
  • Wow.

Sounds like you guys had a great time. Cool.

Well done you two! Mark and family sound like most excellent hosts because it's not often forum members get the opportunity to get together.

I have chatted just the once with Charlie on the phone (the English 3-Sheet find), a warm fellow indeed, someone I would be most happy and keen to meet one day in the future should the opportunity arise.

Matt, Ves and I have had a coffee and a trade show day out which was nice, I'd not met Ves before this - nice to chat about posters and forum and other almost as important things.

When I moved back to Melbourne around 18 months ago Matt kind took me around all his secret poster finding places (I was sworn to secrecy and had to cut my thumb and do a blood signature on Top Gun daybill before he would allow me to drive him around to see them all). And in fact Matt has dropped by the shop on a couple of occasions too.

I've yet to meet Rick Bayne although we have been dealing with each other in business for several years now. Similarly I've not met John but have often conversed with him on the phone about non poster related matters, web design etc etc.

All in all I would say we're a fine bunch!
  • Oh that sounds like it was a wonderful time had!  Good food and posters, what else do you need.

Unfortunately for Matt, he's had the displeasure of meeting up with me a couple times now over crappy instant coffee and store bought cake!  I see now I am going to have to lift my game!

It's always nice to meet people that you've ""known" only online.

I've been lucky so far that they've all been loverly...even David :)

I've meet Rick too, he's dropped round, though it seems it was many moons ago...he's very accommodating and has on several occasions invited us up his way...one day when we make it his way in our travels...

  • i met Dario and Rich on Canada/US trips, had hoped to catch up with Bruce on a side-trip from Memphis this year but that whole trip is now looking doubtful.  I've had Matt here looking at my collection, along with a few others, and as Vesna mentioned I did visit her many moons ago. It is nice to put a face to a name and I'm always happy to talk and show movie posters if anyone is down my way.
