Re-release over First release posters

Mark's Cabaret got me thinking.

I've always thought the posters for the original release of Cabaret left a bit to be desired, except the Czech which I think is great.

But I much prefer the Re-release to the original, anyone else have any that fit in this category?

  • The Australian 1952 re-release RKO daybill.       The Australian 1947 original United Artists release daybill.

My all time favorite re-release poster, that in my opinion leaves the original in it's wake, is the re-release RKO The Outlaw  daybill, with it's sexy pose and the magnificent colour.

  • Yah, I think there are a lot of people who would agree with you :)
  • I agree Lawrence. That re-release The Outlaw is better.

    Keeping the theme Jane Russell...

Here's the original 1948 The Paleface. Of which I own.

If given the choice, not sure I'd  take the Hirschfeld re-release. Of which I don't own...Great artwork and certainly more expensive! Thoughts?...

  • Original for me, though I can see the attraction to the RR, just too much yellow for my liking!
  • I think I'd pick the original as well.  Nice Hirschfeld drawing, but it isn't exactly difficult to find posters with his work.
The red on yellow is so garish, I certainly wouldn't pay more for it than the original.
  • Love is Better than Ever:

    1st release...

    Rerelease...

  • At Work.  Can't SEE!

  • First one by far.
  • Never seen the movie, but first has a grittier feel to it, almost noir-second softer, romantic fun. First pops more, but I'd hang 2nd in my house.
  • How weird...now I can SEE!

Hmm, toughie...need to think on it.

  • Liz absolutely pops in the RR.
  • The Texas Rangers 1940's re-release daybill on the left and the original 1936 Australian release long daybill. Both beautiful but I slightly lean towards the re-release in preference. Anyone agree?

  • That's a toughie...too close to call for me.
  • Both equal in my mind.
  • Not my thing but yes BOTH are very nice
  • At least the original art like Mr. Douglas.

Totally disagree. Both Fred MacMurray images are good likenesses of him.
