  • I saw a few shrunken lads in lycra go by earlier...braver than I Sven.

    In training for?

  • In training for?
Stress reduction. No events for me!

But i thought i would rather brave those temperatures rather then wet and windy

I had frozen eye lashes !
  • Braver man than me Gunga Din
  • Worked in the city last week for a day. Beats the prison.

  • Very nice, Matt! Melbourne?
  • Yup.
  • Sitting in Minneapolis airport with 4 hour layover for flight to great Falls, Montana
  • Minneapolis? Don't they have a Cheers Bar there? Passed through there once....
  • Didn't see one. Post trendy. Most restaurants and bars are now local themed
  • Canada eh?
  • I'm back in Milwaukee now.  Here I am with my son at Glacier National Park.  We took the tour in a 1930s vintage bus.  Really a first class event and highly recommended.  If nothing else, it was very relaxing to sit back and enjoy the scenery without having to drive.  We also had a great driver who knew the park inside and out.

  • Cool. Open top or soft top?
  • Sounds like fun....and cool old bus!

It had a roll back canvas top that they opened up once we left the highway.  The view was unobstructed and fantastic.
  • Wowza! You were right! Fantastic!
  • Oh Wow!

  • What a view! Could sit there all day and just chill out looking at it
  • Stuck in an airport and the next flight is tomorrow at 7 AM.  ?&!$

I almost stopped at your house but ran out of time.  I even had your trophy in my carry-on.  I was going to stick it in your mail box.  Toronto traffic is the worst I've ever seen and I drive one of the most congested freeways in Texas everyday. We had to speed to the airport to make the flight.
  • Oh and by a miracle our flight from Buffalo landed 1 hour and 40 minutes late but my Houston flight was delayed 45 minutes so we made it to the gate right when they were boarding - home safe and sound now.

Brighton, Melbourne (which is just down the road really)

Got a call from an old boy (John) to go have a look at some old posters he got back in the day when he was an assistant to the projectionist at The Dendy...he also worked at the 'Beeb' too, but I digress

One of the stories he weaved to me was that the owner of The Dendy where he worked also owned the other theatre in town, the Prince George, aka the Fleapit (apparently no one liked to go there)

Now, in 1956/57 when The Ten Commandments was coming to town, tickets sold out at The Dendy quickly however the owner advertised in the local paper "still tickets left" (at The Dendy) but when people turned up to buy the tickets they got told 'sorry, just sold out, but if you head over the the Prince George the have a few left - start time is 30 minutes later but you should be able to grab a seat'. As a result both had the 'house full' signs out.

Now on the night it was John's job to sprint between the Dendy and the Prince George with the movie reel as each one finished at The Dendy!

    Boy did I lol!

but you digressed from the looking at old posters part of the story....

  • No I didn't...
  • hospital.  Had a stroke scare that was a false alarm.  Still don't know what really happened, but with all the things they did to me, I am certain it wasn't a stroke.
  • Oh Jay...sorry to hear of the scare but good to hear not a stroke!
  • Yes good news indeed Jay.
  • Dude! Take care!
