Mel from DC...
I got a txt message from Mel today... His site is back up: http://www.moviepostercollectors.com/MPC_Home.html If you haven't checked it out, you should.
Apparently he is totally out of the game, consigning all his posters to Bruce. Poor guy might have been fighting an illness we didn't know about. I told him we would welcome him if he wanted to stop by and relive old times... I wish him the best. We always think we know each other so well but sometimes never really do...

Didn't see eye to eye on a lot with him but you never want anything like that to happen.
Hopefully it is not so serious. Wishing him well...
Better to burn out than to fade away...
Please don't let me be misunderstood...
Or something like that

It was indeed a good read, I copied it and posted it in that thread noted above for all to find. We've referenced it a several times to newbies.
You David and Ted rule the gif world ( Ideally I should add now a witty gif but i know my limits)
And I don't mean this disparagingly, but VMPF is primarily focused on Australia, so I'll only occasionally foray here. BTW I just read today that Australia just surpassed Switzerland as the wealthiest country per capita. Whut?
Anyways if you're on FB I now have 575 followers on my MP hobby page so like it to see my dorky posts. Very few comment, so it's just me yapping.
I also entertain/annoy the four FB groups listed here:

Here's my FB "pitch":
*****
+ My 100% nonprofit personal MP Page has 575+ followers, many posts, thousands of XL/HQ MP images. Like/follow www.facebook.com/pg/MoviePosterCollectors to “join the party.†(Click Photos on left, then select All Albums to access MP images.)
See ya round...+ My 100% nonprofit educational MP site: www.moviepostercollectors.guide = MP Collecting 101: 50+ MP authentications, image showcases, buying guide, etc. (Please refer it to MP newbies)
I figured we were past this back and forth and family by now.
Thats the way i want to go..die with my boots on.. mummified in daybills
ON FB there are no categories, no sub categories, when a new post is started and it's at the top, only until someone else posts a new topic (or bumps the old one). On a forum, here and on any other 'board' type forum there are multiple conversations going on at any one time that can be scanned/viewed on a single browser web page.
The reason there is an apparent leaning toward Australia paper is because Lawrence posts regularly about it and people engage with that, nothing to stop others who are also regular members from starting up a conversation. Bruce is starting to feed in great information which people are gobbling up, Bruce has also a signature to his website which gives him the double benefit - the more he posts the more his own website is 'promoted'.
Any post by anyone here can be shared to any FB page, just click the button at the bottom right (of the post), no double posting required.
There is already a FB daybillers group. There is also a group for pre-code, one for classic movies, one for Thai posters, one for posters with holes in the corners and so on and so on. My own FB page has (I had to check), over 3.5K followers, it gets new members almost daily I haven't posted there for about a year. Most people join a FB group rarely post, just like most any other forum.
As you often post on FB asking people to follow you then I suggest what you do is build a better website (build it around WP) then ask the guys here if you can embed this forum into your website, then you will have the best of both worlds - a website that has a forum. In fact this forum can be embedded on most PHP run websites. What a great way to promote your own website whilst allowing visitors to consumer the movie poster conversations.
1% of members participate the rest consume. Which one are you?
On the promotion aspect, I would be astounded if EVERYONE who posts here doesn't know about my auctions. I just set the signature up because the unknown person who created this forum (that would be YOU, David) did such a great job of it that it is quick and easy and looks professional. But if you ever banned it (for me or for everyone) it would not have the slightest effect on my posting.
I have the greatest interest of anyone to see the hobby grow and thrive, and I will gladly post on ANY troll-free forum or Facebook group without any "benefit", beyond helping grow the hobby, by helping make new collectors feel welcome.
Here is a handy checklist to help tell eMoviePoster.com apart from all other major auctions!
