  • A few new posters in the rock-o-bedroom. I failed to achieve a theme here, but just stuff I felt like looking at. Flesh and the Spur 1 sheet, Hard Women pressbook, and a little Aussie goodness with a Creature With the Atom Brain daybill.

Also, I scored a 32x40 framed print on the cheap the other day, so I did some surgery and swapped out the bird poster for a September Affair Danish 1 sheet. Like so many others, no space on the wall for it yet, but I got it framed.

  • Rock, you do great framing work! Super nice pieces to have on the wall!!!
  • Thanks for your kind words, Mark. I'm probably more of an opportunist than anything else. Since so much of what we collect are not standard frame sizes, it's just a matter of keeping an eye out for what might work.  :)

@Matt - "Great door panels. Are you going to cover every inch of your house in posters? lol. Not that there's anything wrong with that"

Not every inch, but getting there slowly. The more I put up, the less the in-laws visit :)

Still got the Aussie Psycho and Lolita 3 sheets to hang on the stairs, then i can move onto the larger areas.

  •  :o  :o  Holy wow, batman! Great looking walls!
  • impressive
  • Not the full on wallpaper effect like Mel goes for, but certainly breaks up the whiteness of the place.
  • Just another typical Sunday quickie rock-o-reframe here. Scored a frame on the cheap:

    three bad sisters frame

And cut some mat I had bought to use with this poster. I wasn't wild about the dimensions the logan border calculator suggested, but it looked okay before cutting. I don't dislike it enough to redo it, but it didn't cover as much of the poster's border flaws as I would've liked. Anyhoo, here's as decent of a picture I could snap of the finished product:

  • ¡Ay, caramba!

    More bad girls!
  • Rock! Flaws? Where?! That looks great! Your talent for finding frames and matting is great! The colors all go nicely together!
  • Super rock!!
  • Thanks, guys. This is one of those posters that’ll be about a 10 footer/3 meter one with regards to best viewing. The fold lines are such that this half sheet must’ve made about 4 laps around the country. It has some serious miles on it. It’d be nice if we could just iron ‘em out.  :)
  • Got Kong Up on the Wall , put the old snipe back on and a bit of Archival Tape repair on the border fold tears

@needforspeed God you're flash Craig, you bought two! ;)

Tobor seems pretty freaked out by the new addition! :)
  • Jaw droppingly amazing Craig! I salute U !
Well done its gone to a great home where it will be loved
  • Looks fantastic!!
  • Nice set of posters! Daybills on either side really add to the display!
  • That's a beauty Craig! Congrats!
  • That's a beauty Craig! Congrats!
Good to see you back posting Reg @HumphreyBogart . Hopefully in the future you'll dazzle us with some new acquisitions!!
  • I can't begin to follow Craig's sci-fi Kong wall, but here's a few finished framing projects as of late. First off, a poster that Dave (Posteropolis) sent me free with something else I bought many, many, many moons ago. The poster is square, so I started to keep an eye out lately for a cheapo frame, and found one for five bucks, with a picture already matted in it. The poster is full bleed, so that's why it looks as if the matting is awfully tight around the image. I reused and recut the matting, and finally Mr Dolby is ready to go up on the wall.  :)

    aliens ate my buick framed

For the next 2, I happened across a couple thrift store frames for $6 each. This is what they looked like as purchased (the other frame was an opposite/matched image):

    white half sheet frame

And with the typical for me (and seemingly unavoidable color choice) red matting, two more half sheets are waiting for their turn on the wall:

That's it for now. Next up, another pressbook and the Alan Freed half sheet as seen in the most recent acquisitions thread.

  • Best thing I ever did was buy a mat cutter... Do you cut your own?
  • I’m posting from my phone at the moment, so I can’t post a pic, but I just have a basic handheld style Logan 4000 series mat cutter. I use a 4 foot aluminum ruler(?) as a straightedge. Definitely not the ideal setup, but it’s functional.
  • Nice! I picked up the Logan 750-1 which is the 40” version. It has several different cutters for straight cuts, beveled cuts and one for 5 ply.

I had prices out getting custom mats cut and they wanted $20 a piece.  I’ve easily covered the cost of the cutter at this point.

  • Wow, very nice! Yeah, compared to that, I'm definitely in the minor leagues. Great purchase!
  • I wasn't sure how to edit my last post I made that included pictures, or I would've just added this to it, so sorry for the potentially unnecessary post. I don't have matting yet for the Rock, Rock, Rock half sheet, so I couldn't do that today (Hobby Lobby, the only store that's reasonably local to me that sells matting is closed on Sunday). I did, however, get the pressbook matted and in a frame:

brain that wouldnt die - invasion of star creatures pressbook framed

It didn't come out so well in the pic, but the matting is a dark green. Yesterday I scored a 30x40 frame on the cheap, so now I gotta see what will fit in it. This one is 39x26.75, so I could get it in with just a sliver of matting around it:

el gran golpe de los 7 hombres de oro

And I've had this poster for quite a few years now, but I'm not sure of the dimensions. Other Danish posters measure out about 39x28, so I'll have to find the tube this one is in and measure it for sure.

    frihetsligan danish 1 sheet

I've also got a couple of these around somewhere and I think they're quads, so no matting needed. We'll see how the dust settles with the new quad-size frame.  :)

  • Again....great stuff Rock! Really liking the Danish paper!
  • Really love the greens in that brain  couldnt die pressbook and mat board Rock!
  • Thanks for the kind words, guys. I’m really digging the 2 for 1/double feature aspect of the pressbooks, but more importantly their size. I have more places I can hang smaller stuff than I do for 1 and half sheets. Pressbooks ain’t much on color, but compared to some of the posters they advertise, they’re exponentially cheaper.  :)
