Mel from DC...

  • I am just a casual observer now, Charlie & Matt have been part of the development of the site from Day One and now with Mark on board taking care of business it continues to grow and expand. IIRC the signature option was put in place so people could promote themselves without the place looking like a free-for-all advertisers hoarding, but I digress...

My point was if Mel wants to get his website/FB page promoted then here is as good a place as any and better than FB because every single one of his FB posts (where he invites people to like his page and visit his website) drops away from view as soon as someone posts and based on some of them results is often viewed by less than 4 or 5 people - so the number of members doesn't matter.

Here, with an authentication thread he could build a following which would in turn feed visitors to his website - as long as his posts don't turn into non-stop spruiking.

  • Well numbers don’t lie. Both APF and VMPF have at most 25 very active members after several years.

I likewise prefer the organization of forums but the war is over. I tried to convince 3 advanced collectors on FB to try forums. No interest. Mark Lawd - the #1 UK collector - reluctantly is trying the Vintage FB Group, by contrast.

MPC.guide is a “one time” visit for new collectors and I’m not going to update it, though it is aging badly.

Several collectors have - rightly or wrongly - dismissed this forum as “Australian.” Not just me.

Not my business but I agree that EMP should promote primarily to the legions of casual collectors on FB.

    Ca-razy world ? as always.  =)

YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE WRONG!  B)

Yer no doubt right about my over-promoting MPC.guide but the mods have never rebuked me. I only post every 2-3 days and also don’t promote if I’m just passing on 3rd party info. And I couldn’t care less about how many followers I have. They never comment or leave, so whatev....

Finally, FB itself has peaked. My under 40 pals shun it in favor of Instagram and Reddit. But the under 40 crowd has little interest in MPs and can’t afford them. It’s the same dilemma operas face - only 55+yos like it and they have difficulty replacing them!  :s

And absolutely no different on Facebook.

Will say it again: 1% of members contribute, 99% of members consume.
  • Hey guys,

Does anyone have Mel's email address?  I thought I had it but can't find it!
  • Message me your email and I will email it to Mel. I make it a firm rule to never give out emails.

Here is a handy checklist to help tell eMoviePoster.com apart from all other major auctions!
HAS lifetime guarantees on every item - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS unrestored and unenhanced images - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS 100% honest condition descriptions - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS auctions where the winner is the higher of two real bidders - IS eMoviePoster.com
HAS "buyers premiums" - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS "reserves or starts over $1 - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS hidden bidder IDs - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS no customer service to speak of - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS "nosebleed" shipping charges - NOT eMoviePoster.com
HAS inadequate packaging - NOT eMoviePoster.com
