Yes it is the charming I Know Where I'm Going film from 1945. This is one of my favourite British films from the 1940's.

Correct. How Green Was My Valley from 1941. Nominated for ten Oscars and winning five, including Best Picture.

  • As nobody is yet able to identify C63 I will add an extra image to try and rectify this.

  • As C63 has turned out to be too difficult to answer. I will now reveal that the film in question is Outcast To The Islands from 1951.

The film was produced and directed by Carol Reed, who's other films he directed include The Way Ahead, Odd Man Out, The Fallen Idol, The Third Man, The Man Between and Oliver!

Outcast Of The Islands was filmed on location in the former Ceylon ( from 1972 called  Ski Lanka ), with a prestigious cast headed by Ralph Richardson, Trevor Howard, Robert Morley and Wendy Hiller.

  •

Two images from more well known films that I am thinking shouldn't present a problem in finding answers for.

  • Everyone is welcome to participate here.
  • First one is The Aviator
  • Never heard of Outcasts...will have to look into it
  • First one is The Aviator
Correct. C69 which I had missed numbering is The Aviator from 2004.

The number for the other unnumbered image ( the orchestra ) is C70.
  • Isn't C70 the second version of The Man Who Knew Too Much?

It is indeed The Man Who Knew Too Much from 1956. The pictured scene appears at the the beginning of the film during the opening credits.

  •  C71  C72  C73

Three more classic film scenes from the 1940's, 1950's and the 1960's. Two of the films are extremely well known films, and the other one would be known to film noir fans.
  • C71.  I see that arm...Sunset Boulevard
  • C71.  I see that arm...Sunset Boulevard
Correct. The arm of Gloria Swanson from Sunset Boulevard from 1950 it is. A good spotting.  This scene is one that I remember very well, and stays in one's mind. Just one of so many great Billy Wilder films.

It is the 1960 version of The Magnificent Seven. One of my favourite westerns of all time. Based on of course the Akira Kurosawa 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai.  I programmed and was able to view the Seven Samurai on 16mm when I was involved with a film society many years ago.                I recommend if you ever have the opportunity to see Seven Samurai to do so. The 2016 version of The Magnificent Seven is an enjoyable film to watch also.

      ( Heritage Auctions )

The above magnificent original Japanese poster of Seven Samurai was sold on Heritage Auctions April 7, 2018  for $22, 705 U.S,
  • Is 73 a noire?
Ja it is a film noir.
  •   C74  C75

These two images I am thinking shouldn't present any problem in identifying.
  • C74 is The Wicker Man (the original). I loved the movie when I saw it on its first release and have watched it a few more times over the years. I was surprised to later learn Britt Ekland used a body double during her best scene!

Correct. Yes it is the original 1973 The Wicker Man version. A little disturbing for my taste, but a very well made film nevertheless. A good number of people seem to like this film though.

I see the 2006 remake version is only  given 3.7 / 10 on the IMDb website. This version must really be a stinker. Anyone seen it?

Not a typo by me, but a deliberately placed clue.
  • C73 The Asphalt Jungle

    C73 The Asphalt Jungle
A good guess, but unfortunately not correct, As this one is proving to be a little difficult in answering. an additional image should hopefully assist,

  • C73 Scarlet Street

  • C73 Scarlet Street
Correct.  Scarlet Street was a 1945 release.
