Is 275 Marilyn Monroe in Ticket to Tomahawk?
Yes it is indeed Marilyn Monroe in A Ticket To Tomahawk from 1950.  Jay also knew the answer but was holding back apparently to allow someone else to answer it.

274 clue is based on a real life person.
I had thought that this image wouldn't have presented a problem in identifying,

A final clue is ten cents a dance.
  • I had thought that the ten cents a dance clue would have provided the answer, but alas it wasn't to be the case.

274 is Doris Day in Love Me Or Leave Me from 1955.

  •
This scene from Love Me Or Leave Me had prompted my earlier ten cents a dance'clue.
  •  276  277
How about these two ladies then?
  • A clue for 276 is an actress remembered for performing a certain style of dancing.

A clue for 277 is an actress remembered for usually wearing a distinctive style of apparel on screen.
  • Based on your clues I would think 276 would either be Eleanor Powell or Ann Miller, and I would think 277 would be Carmen Miranda, but I am too busy to search images. But maybe (if I am right on either) this will help someone else find the answer.

I will acknowledge your answers to both the images Bruce as being sufficient. Good memory as usual.

276 is Eleanor Powell seen below dancing with Fred Astaire in Broadway Melody Of 1940 (1940)

277 is Carmen Miranda seen below dancing with Groucho Marx in Copacabana (1947)

Three new image to be identified, and possibly they will present a problem in attempting to work out the identities of these featured lovely ladies.

I have also presented something a little different this time around with two of the images
  • I believe the second and third are the same person.

And you are correct with this thinking

  • A clue for 278 is a famous sister in real life.

A clue for 279 and 280 is an early association with Judy Garland,

Waiting for someone else on 279/280. (BTW, great clue)
The clue for 278 has me thinking June Haver, but I can't find an image.

Yes I liked the clue, but I had wondered if it would register with anyone.

Regarding 278, think a little later in time, and also the earlier a famous sister in real life clue doesn't refer to her being an actress.

Final clue is a big television soap opera star in the 1980s.
  • 279 final clue is D.J,

    280 final clue is train.
  • I guess leaving it long enough.
279 and 280 are Deanna Durbin
279 is Something in the Wind
280 is Strangers on a Train

Yes your 279 answer is correct, Deanna Durbin in Something In The Wind from 1947.

Your 280 answer stating it was also Deanna Durbin is also correct. Unfortunately the film that you mentioned she didn't appear in. Hopefully you can get back with the film title in question.
  • Could it be LADY on a Train? :)

Yes 280 is the Deanna Durbin film Lady On A Train from from 1945.

Let us not have the identity of the above actress defeat you.

The earlier posted, and now slightly amended, a famous non actress sister in real life clue, even if I say so myself is a good clue.
Plus a repeat of the earlier final clue is a big television soap opera star in the 1980s.
  • I hope I finally got it! I think it is Joan Collins. I guess I am too old, because I don't think of her as a "soap opera star", because she was great before she was on Dynasty. I especially liked her in Seven Thieves.

I am very pleased 278 has now been solved. The featured film image is indeed Joan Collins featured in Rally 'Round the Flag Boys! from 1958.

Joan has never retired and after 73 years on the screen stars at the age of 90 in an upcoming new film currently in post production.

She was one of the stars of the top rating television series Dynasty screening from 1981 until 1989. My other clue referred to her famous younger, now deceased author sister Jackie Collins. Joan certainly had talent and to be on screen for 73 years is simply amazing.

The following image is from Joan's debut British film Lady Godiva Rides Again (aka Bikini Baby in the U.S.A ) from 1951. At the young age of around eighteen she was unbilled in the film playing a beauty contestant, seen above appearing on the far right of the image. Also in the lineup are Diana Dors and Anne Heywood.

The challenges for you keep coming.
  • I love it when I instantly recognize them and don't have to wait for clues!

    282 is Jungle Woman (Aquanetta)

Correct. It is Acquanetta in Jungle Woman from 1944. This film is known as being a horror film. It was one of three horror film Acquanetta appeared in playing the part of jungle woman.

One of these three films was banned in Australia. To find out more you can check out my December 2016 entry on the Missing Australian Universal Horror Posters thread.

  • I somehow KNEW for sure 281 was Shelley Winters, but I did not have time to check this morning, but now I went to my archive and found it is SOUTH SEA SINNER.
