I do like you humour Peter.

For anyone wondering about this image, it is of course Steve  Martin playing Magaret Wycherly's character Ma Jarrett from White Heat in the Carl Reine black and white tribute to film noir Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid from 1982.

Another image from the film appears below showing Steve Martin with Rachel Ward the leading actress in the film.

Yes, even after I knew the title from the clues, I had to search for a while to find that image. I sold lots of stills from this title, but I don't think any show the priest.

A really good thoughtful guess, but unfortunately it is incorrect. You need to think of a film that has a younger age gathering of people appearing in a similar setting.

I am assuming it is a black and white movie. All the swimming pool scenes I can think of are color, except The Last Picture Show, but I don't remember that well at all.

Yes Bruce the film was filmed in black and white, but it isn't The Last Picture Show.

You will probably kick yourself when the film's identity is revealed as it is a classic scene from a very well known film. I'm thinking though that you could still work out the identity of the film.
