C542 - The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956 version). The clue gave it away
Sorry Peter the clue referred only to film's female star which you worked out, but didn't mentio her name, Unfortunately though in this particular case another film title is involved.
My earlier clues were. (1) Helpful film title, 2) Catchy title song sung by the female lead a super clue, 3) A day could solve this one, and finally 4) Whatever will be. You certainly will know the answer now,
C540 - The Children's Hour (1961)...I'm on a roll now...one more to go.
Yes this one spot on. It had to have been the hardest one of the original posted eight to identify, so very well done, Re-titled for release outside the U,S.A. as The Loudest Whisper. Shirley MacLaine appears in the below image.
I feel dumb because I actually saw that movie and liked it!

A clue for C544 is that you may need to think outside the box.
It has been privately pointed out to me that the above image is not from the intended film, but is actually from a later live Broadway adaptation of the movie having the same name.
My mistake in not thoroughly checking out my posted image origins. Sorry for this oversight. I usually do this but obviously it didn't occue in this case.
I will include below a replacement image that is taken from the actual film that I am seeking an answer for.
Your last clue did it! Not many modern musicals win Oscars.

C544 Bullets Over Broadway
Correct, Bullets Over Broadway from 1994. I haven't seen the film but according to various sources such as IMDb and Wikipedia the film isn't a musical. Apparently the film is a comedy crime genre film. Dienne Wiest won her second Best Acting Oscar for her role in this film.
The film's soundtrack does contain various numbers from singers and bands from the period that the film is set it. The rare located image that I last posted here shows at least that one visual musical number was featured in the film.
The film was later adapted by Woody Allen to become a Broadway Musical in 2014
C548 I know there was a backdrop like that from Spellbound by Dali, so that is my guess!
