  • We ignore advice...we listen to suggestions.

    Then ignore them too... ;)

We'll get our best man to look at it...Matt!
  • Yawn............sorry I'm about to go bed.........................lesson one, never listen to Dave. >:/
  • Matt's also head of security for the forum, no one becomes a member without a full cavity search...

    ...he's looking for posters.

  • Pfft, you can be sooo anal sometimes. :P
  • Adam.  Can you explain your concern with a bit more detail.  The background is off-white (grey) and then the head category texts are different colors compared to the subcategories.  Not sure what you are thinking...

OK, sorry for the lax details mate.

Could you try the title category backgrounds a different colour - a darker colour IMO always works best.
I think doing this would help people tell the difference more easily between category headers and sub-categories.
I also think it would be better on the eyes in terms of focusing and aesthetics.

Darker is not happening...this is a bright and breezy coloured forum, black bg  for the category background would look fugly - and that is a technical terms used in the web design industry. You have to remember there is synergy between the colour of that background and the colours of the posts background, to drastically change the category bg would require a whole rework of the other colour schemes
  • I almost think it could be removed.  I never use it.
  • It's easier to just click on categories at the top and work your way through them.

We're at cross purposes? We're talking about the colour of the background to the Categories Menu on the left?

(And yes I use it, specially when I am looking for a subject/category we have...albeit I use Recent Discussions the most)
  • The left side menu is what I am talking about to be clear.
I'm not saying turn the category title backgrounds to black lol - black wouldn't work, but a darker colour would, or at least a contrasting colour compared to the sub-category backgrounds.

    Nope you still lose.

It isn't going to be a dark background, it would look like an amateur site with unbalanced colors everywhere, which would then require me to slash my wrists or yours...and you just know which one I will choose. Best I will do is darken the key category titles a couple of shades.
  • Ha Ha.
I'm not saying a dark background, just a darker one, or a less light one lol.

I disagree with the amateurish point as if you choose colours that go together there is no lack of balance.
Either way, whatever you do, my point is that it is difficult to see the difference between category titles and subcategories (or discussion titles). May I suggest an increase in the indent size of the subcategories (or discussion titles)? That could work.
  • Bump, any gripes or suggestions?
  • Moderator's need to up thier game against trolling behavior. Now why has Steve and Bruce left again?
  • Moderators can't control people's emotions. That's not our job. Steve and Bruce are big boys...they can come and go as they please.

As to the trolling behaviour of any member against another ??? In this forum?

If it starts....we stop it.....or at least give a warning.....and I've handed out one of those. Game time on trolling in this forum?

Reg...hand over your Monroe daybill doubles.....you bastaurd!
  • I think you guys have done a fantastic job. The only thing I can think of as a suggestion is to be able to see the name of the section as well as the name of the thread on mobile view. I normally click on recent discussions and it takes me to the thread. But as far as i can tell by looking at my mobile view i have no idea which section it is. There are obvious threads "october" "wayne" etc that are easy to identify, so I know where I am and where to look for again if I need to go back for whatever reason. But again, not essential as I suspect it will be clearer once I am familiar with the forum and all the different sections. Overall, I really think it is a very well put together forum. Gold medal!
  • @Rosa

I am presuming you are signed in on your mobile? You do have quite a few options available on the menu when you are:
    • Recent Discussions - which will display new discussions since your last visit.
    • My Bookmarks - files all your favourite/regular discussions in one place - you have to 'star' the discussion to bookmark it (tick the star top right of the page of the topic).
    • My Discussions - any topics you have posted in are stored there.
  • Perfect! Thanks very helpful David. I am ashamed to say that didn't know about the other 2 options. Apologies (hey something new to learn every day!). Many thanks again!!
  • You are most welcome!

    :-B
  • No worries Matty for you I will! Which monroe daybill ya want bastid?
  • All of them! :ar!

I've been playing, a new(ish) banner - I know it's not as good as some forum banner designs

    Why?

    It's not an option, still.

I believe it was a request because the other forum had it - IMHO it adds no value to being a member
