I always scroll thru at speed the first time to see if any catch my eye, I do like the purty ones. Seems to be a lack of OMGs in the linens. The usual suspects like the Attack of the 50' but looks like a lot of 'second tier' titles or am I being hyper critical?

As I've got one on the wall I'll watch this out of curiosity.

This is a great image of Lucille Ball in a nothing special film - will go for a couple and be worth it.

    image

This is great and will definitely go for a few
    image

A great film - Gene Tierney as beautiful as she can be - I always thought the poster never quite did her justice.

This one is nice, but one wonders if people will get caught up in the moment.
    image

Better to save up and buy the US 3SH or AU Daybill
    image

And then one wonders if $100 worth of linen on a $5 poster will turn this into a silk purse...
    image

    Or worse...

I must add I do like the fact the EMP grades the poster pre-restoration, it is certainly one thing no one else does, I'd love one day to see before and after pics as a means of judging them.
  • No diont think you are being hyper critical. They normally turn up a few nice daybills so lets see. Desire me is a lovely poster David, can imagine it would look stunning on the wall.

Lordy Lordy - I hope not, I've been on a no buy for the past 12 months
  • There are some great posters there. Have to wonder why someone would spend the money to linenback the likes of Tootsie?
  • Hopefully there's some good Aussie gear this time!
  • I just browsed through the preview gallery of part 2 linenbacked posters. Guess what absolutely nothing there for me again!

Your bank account will thank you

Never heard a poster do that eva! Probably why I have complete an utter self control when it comes to buying posters.

Nothing works! I even rewrote the bucket list as must have and like to have , but cat man might breach it.. I tell you what , I'm impressed with reggies restraint, he seems to go months without buying a poster

I think the last time he posted to recent acquisitions was just post the November ha auction with notorious and out of the past then made comment on last few auctions nothing of interest...but I am making a big assumption and should go with the most probably statistic that we are all junkies!

Reg is a quiet collector... :((
  • Not everyone posts everything they get when they get publicly...
  • I think when you buy a few 'big ticket' items (in terms of price) sometimes you need a little down time afterwards.  Acquisitions also seem to decline as collections get larger and you've already located many of those pieces you have been after (unless of course your collecting niche erratic ;) )...

Yup I am very quite. It's been the slowest 6 months that I have had since I starting collecting :(

    This is very true.
  • I'm waiting to post my London After Midnight at the 2016 VMPF Champuonships! :^o ..... :D
  • Bugger, I was going to bring out my Metropolis 3 Sheet for that...
  • What's this added part 5? Anyone know what's in it?
  • Rolded posters?
  • Well if Bruce was still active here, he could tell us.....
  • Actually a few nice daybills in part 4...have a look i wont spoil it for you
  • Still trying to understand the categories for each of the different auctions!
  • Yes! More so with part 5! Bruce.....cooooooooooo'eeeeeeeee

The Big Clock is stunning...one of the nicest Richardson' you'll see me thinks.  You all best decide amongst yourselves who gets it, so you don't bid each other up!
  • The Big Clock poster is great. The film is great also and was directed by Australian born John Farrow. One of my favourites.

Comments on the results thus far?

Price on this one seems to be drifting south in recent events, returning half what it achieved a couple of years ago!

    image

Was watching this one, obviously don't know how bad it was before restoration, but the seller can't be happy at $91 less 30% in fees. Buyer should be very happy, got a great poster - I know, I have it on the wall!

    image

At $416 it is about $100 less than previous years, I guess you gotta like the redheads - like me!

    image

At $1610 again a little lower than I thought, I was expecting at least $2K - a beautiful poster, grats to the new owner..

    image+

I love this film, not this poster - the poster sold for $135 which is about what it sells for non-backed; I'd have thought it'd go for more, hopefully the seller did his own linen backing and restoration (which might explain why it was restored with the incorrect litho number - I mean, wtf!?), else he's done his dinner once he hands over 28% in selling fees.

    image

I thought people might get carried away in the bidding for this, they did, but not by much - went for $88, sexy poster - no idea about the film.

    image

Those were the ones I was curious about, looks like overall it was a buyer's market, which is great if you're a buyer!

    Any surprises for you?

And you can own up to the ones you bought too please!!!
