  • NO!  you should have some fun too!
  • O.K. Off the top of my head I know the following two.

Image # 16. The Las Vegas Story ( 1952 ) Hoagy Carmichael image.

    Image # 17. Cry danger ( 1951 ).

Don't recognise # 18 at all and # 19 I have some thoughts about so will have to think about.

    Yes and Yes :)
  • Thinking about it, 18 might be a bit difficult...
  • For image # 18  I am going to try and guess it. After pondering who the actor depicted in the image is I have come to the conclusion it is possibly John Ireland. The only film I believe it could be from is Security Risk released in 1954. That is the best I can come up with.

Unfortunately not...I'll leave it for a day or so to see if anyone comes up with the answer, but a small clue...you are 5 years too late :)

Sorry your clue didn't help. I have a feeling the image is from an obscure B film. I will continue thought to work it out though.

Image 19 is frustrating as I am sure I have seen that image before. Is the film from the 1940s and would it possibly be a Universal-International film ?

  • # 19 is the Verdict

    Correct :)
  • I am no good at giving clues, but will see what I can come up with later today for 18...else I will just post another part of the poster :)

The Verdict from 1946. I knew I had seen that daybill previously. Your clue sent me down the wrong path as you said 5 years too late when it was 8 years too late. No problem as it gave me some brain exercise. I have never seen this film and it didn't even cross my mind but of course it falls under this category I imagine Nave have seen it Ves and if so is it worth viewing ?
  • Oh sorry...I meant 5 years too late for #18!  Sorry to throw you off in the wrong direction for the wrong picture!

I haven't seen the Verdict, but anything with Peter Lorre, I am up for watching.

It is so hard to see many of these old films as it's hard to get copies of them.

I regularly keep my eye out on the late night ABC movies as occasionally they throw up some gems!

I love the daybill, it is absolutely beautiful...I've had my eye on it for many many years and recently pulled the trigger on it!

  • No problems. I knew the country where the film was set and roughly the period in time from the but this didn't help and you are right it is a nice daybill.
  • Sorry I Mixed up the two unsolved at the time images and clues. You didn't say anything incorrect as I mixed up the clues so  does this mean I am still looking at image # 18 in being from 1949 then ?

Yes, that is correct...the film is from 1949 (based on IMDB) and doesn't star John Ireland...
  • O.K. The film is Cover Up ( 1949 ). My problem was thinking the image belonged to one of the stars of the film. I had  been even  thinking Robert Sterling a little earlier on but lo and behold I now disccover if belongs to an unknown actor appearing to play a killer in the film. How many times have I seen this poster ?

Ah I noticed John's copy was sold.  Glad it was you Ves!  Another one from the under the floor find...

YES!  You got it.  After I posted it I did actually have to think how often it's been put out there, but I had faith you guys would get it!

  • The white fuzzy bits were done by me so don't be confused...hard to edit it without giving away too much.

    #22

    #23

    #24

    #25

    #26

    #27

  • Image # 24 is Sunset Boulevard ( 1950 ) with Erich Von Stroheim.

Image # 21 is Double Deal ( 1950 ) with Richard Denning at the wrong end of a punch.

    Image # 22 is Eye Witness ( 1950 ) ( aka Your Witness ).

  • Yes, yes and yes.
  • For the remaining unidentified 4 images is it possible to know the decade each one comes from, which would be 1940s or 1950s ?
  • Sure...

    #23 - 1950s

    #25 - 1950s

    #26 - 1940s

    #27 - 1950s

All based on the IMDB dates for the films...

  • Thanks. # 27 looks familiar and number 23 looks the least likely to get. Still in there giving it thought.
