CIC Duotone Versions Of Paramount and Universal films.
in Australian
There are countless duotone versions of Paramount and Universal daybills printed for individual film titles in the marketplace with CIC printed on them. Some are sold as originals and some as re-issues. None are from the original release and the odd one may be a re-issue but the majority are additional printings in duotone by CIC in the early 1970s of product already in the marketplace at the time of CIC taking over the distribution of Paramount and Universal product. What made me think about this is I was looking at a duotone daybill image of an obscure film titled Wild Season and thought why would CIC go to the trouble and expense to have another daybill printed ? Seeing I am finding so many duotone versions it makes me consider that the powers to be at CIC in the early 1970s decided to have some of their current and backlog product replaced by a cheaply designed duotone daybill featuring their name printed on them. The poster artist/s must have been busy for a while as there were a fair amount that had the new CIC duotone daybills designed for.

From extensive researching through newspapers, trade magazines and many other sources I have established CIC appears to have started releasing Paramount and Universal films in Australia in January 1971. All Paramount and Universal releases that took place prior to this date were through the two distributors themselves.
