Is really this poster worth this much...is it ...rare?

EMP sold it in 2005 for $690 and now Sr Benito is asking for $3,900...(!) I know Benito has an exquisite collection and he is pricey. But wondered if this was  a rare poster? Just curious to know what you think in case you have seen other copies around. I love this poster.

Oh boy....i feel cornered now...good question and i dont know is the honest answer. lm allergic to "waiting " and  to spend money when you can get it cheaper ...so wondered if this was super rare...

I don't know if it's rare or not, as this is not my area of collecting, but I do know that it is absolutely beautiful, and definitely my kinda poster.

I guess in all the years of collecting, are these the only two you have seen?  Is Benito's the same one Bruce sold?

Never dealt with Benito...I am guessing there is little to no movement on his prices?

I think that the price you pay for something plays more into your decision to buy IF you are doing so in terms of investing or looking to sell down the line.  I've got so many posters in my collection that I love, but there is no way I will ever get back what I paid for them...but they make me smile when I walk past them.

So if you can afford it, why not.  You're worth a bit of luxury!  And you should definitely have lots of pretty bits of paper around you

2005 is a long time ago...

On the basis it is unavailable anywhere else then I'm with Paul and Ves, if you can afford it and you want it then buy it. And as ves says, negotiate a price if you can.

Besides when you come back here and show it off should you buy it, Thierry and the poster police are not actually allowed here!

Thank you all for giving me such a goof food for thought. Those who know me well also know that I've been dreaming about this poster for a long time. As David said, 2005 was a long time ago, Paul nailed it ..just as well buy it ..and Ves just read my mind...when it comes to beautiful paper....we deserve it !

Hi Ted, I went to a poster hunting to Paris and didn't find it. The name "Benito" came up more than once (he owns a copy) but what I  heard wasn't very positive. That said I  can only say good things about Benito and I  cannot fault him for wanting to make a living out of his wonderful posters.

I've purchased several silent film posters from Benito.  He DOES negotiate as far as price and always seems to have great items.  I bought an "American Venus" one sheet in wonderful condition for $2,200 which I thought was a great price.

Thats good to know. Ive spoken to him several times and he is really nice. Will try to negotiate. Maybe you coukd share your American Venus? Just curious.
