They changed the postage service on about 200 of my listings. Two months later, still nothing done about it. The estimated arrival dates were wrong on many of the items I sold and that can lead to INR claims with no recourse against the automated system. Ebay are the biggest hypocrites of all. Just another ruthless, greedy multinational with no ethics. Consider them in the same vein as Aussie banks. We now know what they think of their customers. I hope you have better luck than me, Matt.
They'll try and fob you off with any old story. What happens is you go in a queue to have your problem fixed. I've had to wait up to six months in the past. Other large companies are always sending out customer feedback surveys. Not ebay - they have a monopoly and don't give a rat's arse about your experience dealing with them. As you might gather, I get a little frustrated with the pack of *#&*@^s!
Two month ago my website feed to eBay went down, not one items could be purchased ex eBay due to their software buggering up.
Cost a lot of sales.
Then for two weeks eBay started what appeared to be discounting my stock even though I hadn't. Turned out their software was clashing with my currency software (basically if you visit from a foreign currency it auto converts to your local currency). So because their server is in the USA it converted my prices to USD...EXCEPT listed them on Aus Ebay in Aussie dollars.
In other words it took a AUD$100, converted it to (say) USD$75 then posted it to my eBay site for AUD$75!
I noticed that first problem you mentioned on David's ebay sales too. Was weird, they were there but couldn't buy anything! Looks like ebay is completely FARKED!
But Amazon are hopeless...tried them. ick what a palava. Among other things have to pay up front to sell (one month in advance) but they take 2 weeks plus to approve you to sell!
You think one day with the amount of reproduction/knock off goods being sold on these sites they'll be forced to close shop?
Sure they all have their T&C's of what you can and can't list, but I doubt its rarely policed and of course they're not going to rob themselves of all that commission?
Surely as 'the middle man' for the possible sale of some knock off/stolen goods, they must be leaving themselves wide open?

Nah, I suspect the lawyers have been over those T&Cs with a fine tooth comb...
Also through with eBay, I had a guy ask for some additional photos the other day, so directed him to my site as there were already some additional ones listed.
He didn't proceed, however when the daybill sold 4 days later to someone else and I ended the ebay listing, ebay message me saying that they would be claiming commission for the sale! Once I ended the listing saying it was no longer available, they obviously checked my recent messages, checked the site a few days later, saw the poster listed as sold and out comes their hand demanding their cut.
They also said that any messages regarding looking 'off site' or plugs to other sites etc. would result in commission being invoiced whether the item actually sold or not.
I'm still going on ebay. When I started 20 years ago I didn't load photos to my listings but they sold like hot cakes. Anyone could leave feedback for another user irrespective of whether they had a transaction or not. Things have changed a lot over the years. The rules and regulations and many glitches make it difficult. My shipping options were all changed recently to say that I was sending posters from mainland China!
I had the same with China shipping. Previously I lost the zoom feature on photos and that took 6 months to fix. Combined shipping for international was disabled for ages and there was a lot of BS from ebay about that. I couldn't get the same exposure via a website or Etsy etc, so I have to put up with their terrible service, which is the complete opposite of what they demand from sellers. Imagine if I started BSing my customers and fobbing them off for months about issues with transactions. If an equivalent platform comes along I will jump immediately. Ebay have become an obnoxious company with nothing but contempt for the people who populate their site.
The combined shipping issue has been going on for years. Of course, the so called glitch works in ebays favour because they take a cut out of each shipping cost.

Your items which were BIN before, are BIN now but with the option of offers?
Weird stuff Matt. Good luck!
Huh, yeah exactly thanks Sven. My gear is priced to sell as is....don't need any help.
Nup.

No recompense from eBay.

I cancelled and got my money back.

Taking 10% of postage means everyone loses on shipping.
- Ebay charge for listing eg in an auction or rent if you have a store.
- Ebay takes a commission for the sale.
- Ebay takes a commission for the postage.
- PayPal then take a commission on the entire sale including the postage too.
- Add in the cost of the packaging
So bugger it, I just charge high enough on postage to cover all the fees, you want the item then pay the postage.
