A Daybill Poster Created By An Enterprising Theatre Owner

This daybill poster looked unusual to me so I decided to check it out and I came up with the following.

Take a  early 1970's Robert Burton printed CIC stock poster and print the titles of Ouch! ( 1967 ) a 27 minute silent comedy short and A Little Of What You fancy ( 1968 ) a 75 minute documentary on the poster. Then from an early 1960's MGM daybill poster of The Tom And Jerry Cartoon Festival, sitting in the manager's office, you cut off the top section with ''Fun And Laughs! MGM Presents'' printed on it and  attach this to the top of CIC daybill. It appears all the work of an enterprising theatre owner. What looked odd from the moment I looked at it was that the ''MGM presents'' was out of place on this poster. I then remember the wording '' Fun And Laughs'' was on a Tom And Jerry daybill I have seen the image of, so the query was then solved when I located the Tom And Jerry daybill image with this wording appearing on it. I believe the person who attached the ''Fun And Laughs!'' hadn't seen the film A Little Of What you Fancy, a documentary following the history of the British Music Hall as all the Music Hall songs wouldn't have presented too many laughs for the audience ( which probably was limited in numbers) I am sure, within the 75 minute running time.

  • Ha!  Great stuff.  I should find my hand made Mad Max and something with de niro (I forget title) and put it up too...
