  • Shhhhhhhh. You ALMOST eluded to liking Mexican lobbies there. You’ve worked too long and hard to be as esteemed as you are in the poster community to have your reputation sullied with such an admission. Turn back now before you bring shame on your household! ;):)
Thanks, btw. I was pleased to have stumbled across them.  :)
  • Ooooo...you snagged THE GIRL IN LOVER'S LANE. Awesome.  I'd like one myself eventually.  I love MAN IN THE DARK. I have that. GORILLA WOMAN is fun. "Giant monsters enthroned as love gods. Startling in its weird action." Fabulous!  Those, of course,  are my faves.
  • Here's a quickie new one for me. While I'd prefer the 1 sheet for this, I'll take what I can get for now. This was advertised as a Benton window card, but Globe Poster Corp - Baltimore is clearly printed at the bottom. I'm generally a bit wary of some window cards because of the seeming ease that they can be reproduced, but it looks like Bruce has sold a handful of these, and that's all the vetting/authenticating I need to feel comfortable it's gen-u-wine. As always Bruce, thanks for the auction archive as a resource.

  • Now that is nice... Wish I had one.
  • How fun! The scarlet street of sin. Ha! It's the row they talk about  (in whispers)! Brilliant! I'm not much of a window card guy myself,  but that is sexy.  Hubba hubba! Congratulations!

Someone once found a bunch of these many years ago, and they have surfaced every now again, but they ARE the real deal, and a really fun poster!

OH WOW!  Wound up in the perfect collection! :)
  • Thanks gang. I’m a late bloomer with the earlier sexploitation-y stuff. I’ve always liked it, but only recently tried collecting any of it. I learned from those who came before me, like brother Tint, and the great (and not super old) ho of posters.
The crime of it, however, is that NONE of it has made it up on the walls yet. Arrrgghhh.

What a pair of degenerates those two!
  • Good morning (at least it is for me in the eastern time zone here in the United States of WTF?), and happy Saturday. As always, I hope this random post finds you all still well, safe and healthy. Although there isn't a lot of excitement to be found in this post, I figured I'd put some new stuff here for your enjoyment or derision or virtual bird cage lining, or whatever your preference might be.

Due to my lack of unlimited wall space, and an aversion to more posters sitting unused in the drawers of the flat file than are already there, I've avoided buying posters for most Pixar films, despite being a longtime Pixar fan. Having said that, this post is oddly Pixar heavy. Speaking of which, this first image is one that's on my want list. I don't have one, so if any of y'all have one you'd like to get rid of, or know where I can get one, let me know.

Okayyyy, on with stuff I actually do have. It's been a while since I watched this film, but I enjoyed (and identified with) Lewis Black's Anger character, so I decided to finally get a 1 sheet for Inside Out. The choices for 1 sheets weren't great, but I thought this one fit the bill okay.

I had mentioned in the recent hangings post that the advance 1 sheet for Pixar's Soul would thematically go with Charlie's La La Land poster. I liked the Soul poster well enough to get one on the way for myself (from longtime poster good guy Dale Dilts):

This one I wasn't actively seeking out, but just stumbled across it. SUPPOSEDLY, this is one of those Pixar employee/crew/exclusive posters that was not theater released. While I'd enjoy having posters from more Pixar shorts, I'm pretty geeked to get this one:

And lastly for now, back to my old, seedy self. While I try to keep the older posters I have pre-1960, this one from '61 had the right look and vibe to it. I figured it would go with the other ones just fine:

That's it. That's as much as your delicate constitutions will have to endure from me this morning. Watch this space for more from the "why the &*%# would he buy that?" series. Stay safe!  :)
  • OMG!  FOR THE BIRDS!  I am so jealous right now!
    Great posters as always!
  • Ooooo very nice. I do like that SOUL poster an awful lot---and may need to track one down. I do NOT have that INCREDIBLES poster...sorry. Congrats on your rare FOR THE BIRDS poster. I love LIVING VENUS. Miss Pagan? Ha!!!!
  • Rock, you’ve done it again! I’m no particular fan of contemporary poster design, but those are some well designed pieces!

Soul is outstanding! Will need to look for one; Inside Out has great colors and, for the Birds is really nice.

Liking the title lettering of Living Venus and different sections.
  • Welcome to today's editions of "never say never" and "GO BIG OR GO HOME". In our last episode, I was yammering on about not buying posters for Pixar films, and then showed like 3 of 'em (plus the mr incredible one I need to find) that I had bought. Welp, today I present you with two more.

I'm not sure about the fate of this one. It may just live in it's tube until I can figure out what I'll do with it, but it's kind of like a modern version of a 3 sheet, and it is one of Pixar's good films. It's a 36x72 inch banner:

This one will likely get hung in the garage-mahal with another recently purchased Cars 3 bus shelter I got:

Now that I've seemingly opened the floodgates, stay tuned for what I can only guess will be more Pixar stuff.  :)
  • Good job. Look at you buying posters....GIANT posters. Ha! I've not seen either title. I'm aware of the CARS movie (and i like CARS LAND at Disney's California Adventure park), just haven't seen the flicks. I don't know BRAVE at all. But that is my favorite of the two.  Super nice.
  • Thanks, guys.

I’m at the opposite end of the spectrum as you. I’ve seen all the Pixar films except one or maybe two (I know I’ve avoided Planes) and they’re all  on tap at any time on Disney+. However, I’ll likely never get out to see the Pixar stuff they’ve created at the parks, so color me jealous of your experience(s) there.  :)
  • Man you are starting to inspire me.  I keep thinking I want to do a Charlie's "Down Memory Lane" and snap photos of stuff as I put them back in the flat files...

Great idea, and why not? The foundation of forums like this is to appreciate the medium/subject the forum celebrates. So what if you post things you may have shown in other threads? We loves us some pictures! I understand when people are reluctant to show their collection or the stuff hanging on their walls, but it's great to see when folks do share that type of content.  :)
  • I love Brave!  One of the few disney princess movies I've had to watch a bazillion times that I like!
    More animation!

  • More animation!
Oh, that's a slippery, slippery slope. Like I really need another genre to collect. Having said that, I have been eyeing the Heimlich advance 1 sheet for A Bug's Life.

Time for me to enroll in the movie poster collector's 12 step recovery program. Ugh.

Hi My names Vesna, and I am a poster hoarder...It's been 1 day since my last purchase...

On a serious note, the character sets for A Bugs Life are wonderful!
  • Good afternoon gang, I hope today finds everyone still safe, well and healthy (and hopefully happy) despite society crumbling around us. These have been on a journey across the pond for a while, so I just now had a chance to snap some pictures. In a welcome departure from Pixar world, here's a handful of Belgium's finest, minus the chocolate.  :)

I think that's it for posters for me right now. There's no more in the pipeline, so maybe my wallet can catch it's breath and I can act like a fiscally responsible person for a minute.  :)

  • Nice paper, Rock! That  Hell Train is sweet!
  • Gorgeous.  Belgians are such beautiful posters.
Congrats on some great posters there!
  • Sweet posters Rock! If only I knew the names of them. The third one looks great!
  • Zowie! Super nice batch-o-rama this time. I especially liked PARADIS NUDISTE and the last two Bad Girl posters.  Let your wallet cool down....but not for too long. I am ever so curious as to what goodies you'll find and post next. Cheers
  • Thanks, gang. A couple of them are fairly popular US titles and pretty familiar, but the titles according to the seller are (in order): Nudist Paradise, P..... Respectueuse, Grabenplatz 17, Strasse, Hell Drivers, Reform School Girl, and Girls on the Loose.
  • Beautiful posters. I especially love Rue aux filles and Le gang des filles.

This is funny because it's so true!  My sentiments exactly but didn't want to admit it :)

  • I love this Girls On The Loose Belgium poster for the striking image. It leaves the following Australian daybill minus the knife and the handgun in it's wake. The Australian tagline had to be altered somewhat also from the U.S version taglines.

We will never know what a daybill would have looked like for the other bad girl film Rerorm School Girl as it never gained a release here in Australia. One thing is for certain though, had it been screened here the daybill would certainly been minus a scissors image one would have to believe.
