  • Final clue for C104 is that this film has an unexciting title, as well as a more dramatic one.

The film is perhaps little known, and no one has seen it. I did think that the Clint Eastwood reference would have helped though.
  • "The film is perhaps little known, and no one has seen it"

That raises a question. Why is a little known film no one has seen a "classic"?

That raises a question. Why is a little known film no one has seen a "classic"?
Some films are overlooked by the general public. and fail to attract audiences at the box office for whatever reason. There are many examples of classic films falling into this category. One standout example of this happening that springs to mind is Sidney Lumet's  The Pawnbroker from 1964,

There are also many films that were not critically well received at the time of their release that are now considered classics. A classic is an outstanding example of a particular style. Who decides this then?
  • c104 Charley Varrick
Correct. Charley Varrick ( aka Kill Charley Varrick ) from 1973.

My next two images to challenge you
  • The only movie I remember with a boy drowning by himself is Leave Her to Heaven, I hope that is right for the image on the left (no numbers I can see on these two). I saw it many years ago, and remember it as being very well done,, but the kind of movie I would never want to watch again.

Correct. The numbering of the last two images presented was overlooked. For the record the number or this image is C105, and yes the answer is Leave Her to Heaven from 1945. A disturbing scene from the well crafted film. The film has been described as being a psychological thriller film noir melodrama, which I think sums it up nicely.

The film was nominated for four Oscars at the 1946 Academy Awards. Gene Tierney, seen in the boat, was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading  Role. The photography was stunning and won Best Cinematography. color at the awards.

  • To tidy things up the above image is C106.
  • The 1939 version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Yes C106 is indeed The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and another great film from that golden year of 1939.

    C110 The Seventh Seal

Correct. Excellent result. The Swedish Ingmar Bergman classic from 1957,

A knight returning to Sweden after the Crusades seeks answers about life, death, and the existence of God as he plays chess against the Grim Reaper during the Black Plague. ( IMDb )

Had an answer not been forthcoming, I had intended to include the following.

Clues for C110 is to rule out actor Vic Morrow's uncanny resemblance appearing below, and to concentrate on classic foreign language films.

I must add though that I am extremely happy with all the quiz's regular participants  who have contributed so far, and the progress that the quiz had made since it's introduction on September 6 of this year.
  • I haven't seen either of these, so I will let others have a shot.
