Questions about linenbacking/restoration
Hi guys,
‘I would like to start the backing process soon. A lot of great information in the forums. I have some questions in getting started, I may have missed in the threads or not sure if it’s been answered. Again, I’m not in it to start a business, it’s for my personal posters, that I would like to still do correctly. I would like to start and work my way up to the Italian size sheets.
I’m trying to think of the questions I had when reading the different posts.
1) when setting up, what watering system are you using? I know it’s mentioned here that it’s best to use filtered water. So is it a filtered water system connected to a water line, and then to a water pressure wand to wash the posters? If I were to do it, I would try the Mylar sandwich route, and use that wand each time, flip over, etc. I just don’t know what water and wands are used.
2) what are you using, or where are you getting large masa from for large posters like Italian 4 sheets? I only found 54” wide I think. And Italians 4 panels are 55”x79”.
3)so markers, pens, pastels etc. have to be removed from the back. What about ink stamps? And how are they removed?
I Might be over analyzing before even getting started. I’m assuming maybe just jump in, and post questions along the way..
thanks,
‘Mike
