Poster Developing Country Germany
Believe me, as a German you don’t have it easy. Especially not if you collect posters. Try finding someone who actually knows the field and, for example, understands what “linen backing” is. Try finding someone who can properly clean a one-sheet. Or find someone who has a million scraps of old movie posters to patch torn-off corners.
You won’t.
What you also won’t find: shops that offer proper Mylar sleeves, microchamber paper, or whatever else you need for serious archival storage.
And it’s not just Germany. The whole EU is, in this respect, a developing country. Most of what I need has to be ordered expensively from the U.S., from the usual shops, with all the customs duties and tax nonsense on top.
Since I’ve been watching the market — admittedly not for very long — I’ve noticed that many of the beautiful and valuable posters from Europe are ending up in American hands, because people there are increasingly recognizing that some posters simply have a stronger visual impact than the original U.S. versions.
Something has to change. This can’t go on like this. 🙂 I’m a man on a mission.

Alright - I am at Disney - Got to go.
There is a lobby card dealer on eBay. I just got a set of cards from The Pledge. I recently picked up a prop.
Let me dig that contact out.
There was a fourth on eBay that I got some nice poster from. I’ll try to find it later. At a conference and I am off…
