I agree Matt it is under the 10 mark but still a great film. One film that is worth viewing is the West German film of 1959 titled Die Brucke ( The Bridge ), It is very disturbing and the ending is hard to watch but is certainly is one of the greatest anti war films ever made. Hard to imagine the Germans making this film so soon after the end of World War The version I have viewed was an expertly English dubbed version. The original German language version is harder to find. Other war films you might like that are all worth viewing are ---
Hell To Eternity
Pork Chop Hill
Beach Red
Downfall.( 2004 ) Yes there are some modern films that are made for mature audiences.
ABC television screened in the early hours of this morning Stanley Kubrick's The Killing. This is a film I have seen over and over. From the minute the movie starts with that marvellous loud music soundtrack it sucks one in and one goes on a wonderful film noir experience.
Watched Die Brucke - it was good but not amazing and as I have only seen two (German) anti war movies, this one and All Quiet on the Western Front, I'd rate it a long way behind the latter; I persevered as found the beginning quite clumsy, but overall it was very interesting nonetheless.
However, I think I will watch it again one day as the end credits contained something which raised my eyebrows, it put things in a different perspective and armed with it I think I would watch the movie a little more compassionately.
This is what was in the end credits - don't click if you don't want to know beforehand
'This event occurred on April 27, 1945. It was so unimportant that it was never mentioned in any war communique. ' I researched it and found the story was by the survivor...makes it a little sadder when you understand it was a real event
I see there was a 2008 remake, not sure I am ready to see a remake
A great German war film is Downfall ( 2004 ). Totally engrossing from start to the finish 156 minutes later. Considering most of the film is set in a confined space this is no mean feat. Bruno Ganz was amazing - he was Hitler. Anyone out there love this film as much as I do?
Reading through everyone's posts reminds me how long it's been since I sat and watch a good movie!...
12 Angry Men! Need to get myself a decent copy of this film, absolutely love it!
3 Days of the Condor - I fell asleep...never been able to live that down. Really need to rewatch.
I'm forced to watch Jaws every time its on...does that count??? And Life of Brian too now that I think of it...
Anyway, mine include, but are not limited to:
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Midnight Run
The Godfather (Parts I and II)
Reservoir Dogs
The Professional
Man with No Name Trilogy
Fargo
Desperado
To Kill a Mockingbird
Kelly's Heroes
Unforgiven
Goodfellas
The Party
Pretty much all the Hitchcock films...particularly Rope, North by Northwest, Psycho, The Birds
Dr Strangelove
Metropolis (Actually used to go to the Astor and watch this pretty much everytime it was one)
The Geisha boy
Artists and Models
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
The King and I
The Killing
Big Trouble in Little China
Back to the Future
The Blues Brothers
I'd be getting close with the original Ladykillers but I don't think I am quite at 10 yet...same with Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Sunset Boulevard...close but not quite yet.

I'm pleased someone else lists The Killing. It has to have one of the greatest attention grabbing openings of a film ever.
