What Was Your FIRST Movie Poster?

The is absolute first movie poster that I remember getting was given to me by a family friend who was a projectionist, it was pinned on my bedroom wall for years.

This is what I remember it looking like, which is a bit confusing as this is the German A1. So I wonder what mine was?

Anyway, that was my first poster, barely a teen and here was this cool movie with cool people, cool cars and cool music - and a cool poster.

So do you remember what was yours?

I cannot remember the very first, but this was one of the first half-a-dozen, so maybe the first one...

Unlike most collectors, who buy all kinds and them narrow down to one area, I only collected one specific area when I started, Horror/sci-fi; But expanded out into anything from everything....
  • I believe it was a Darkman one sheet. Don't a pic handy right now...
  • Mine was a Valentino Reissue Son of the sheik. Which I do not own now. Lost in transit when moved back from UNI. Boy..still hurts.
  • bump

    (because it deserves it)
  • Elvis on Tour daybill, plus a Double Trouble duotone reissue, from the Terang Drive In
  • Rushmore
  • Something Eastwood.  Bought a whole bunch off ebay at once.
  • I see words but no pics....

I agree with my learned friend...

  • Not theatrical but that was their mistake
  • This was probably the first one. Not my pic, but you get the idea. Had it pinned on my room as a teenager.

  • And years after that Darkman, when sh*t got serious, this was the first one:

  • Swooning Woman genre... never fails to please
  • My sister moved to NYC in 1970 and discovered Cinemabilia.  She sent me an R49 Casablanca lobby set and an Enforcer os.  I gave away one lobby to my Bogart movie buddy and traded the Enforcer.  I still have rest of the Casablanca set in a safe deposit box.
  • Got my first from the Grand Ave. Cinema in 1967.  This is an upgrade, as the original (which I still own) was tacked to the wall for years and is beat to hell and back.

  • Great first poster, Ted!
  • This was my first:

But this was my second: (NSS style, for which I paid a princely $40)

  • I actually had a Collecting Round 0 when I was in my teens in the 1980s. I don't remember everything I owned - and of course they were long gone by the time I started seriously collecting in 2009 - but I distinctly recall buying by mail order 27x41s and framing:

The 1987 10th Anniversary Struzan SW:

  • Pretty sure that mine was from a collectors bazaar in Melbourne - the daybill for 'My Bloody Valentine', if I recall correctly.

Scarily, that was more than 20 years ago!
  • My first poster was for "LOGAN'S RUN" way back in 1976. I was 11 then. When i saw the movie, the projectionist let me and my buddy watch part of the movie from the projection booth. That was a great experience and really boosted my attraction to the film. A short while later I ventured into a comic book store that had the original poster for sale. I bought it and was hooked on posters ever since...

  • Ahh, you young kids...

  • That is a very cool poster! Need to pick on up one of these days. Movie was really neat premise....and Farrah....
  • Hi there,

I started with small ones like French posters of Highlander and The Dark Crystal but the first time I really invested money in a movie poster was when buying in Paris Bob Peak's great looking 3-sheet US Rollerball poster that I paid 15€ in 1991 (seemed expensive to me back in those days).

  • Hi There,

Welcome aboard.  Would love to see some photos of your posters if/when you feel you like sharing!  We need more international flavour around here...
