Thanks, Matias. A drawback to this poster is it lacks the wide-eyed crazy bat that Peter (oldposterho) used (uses?) as his avatar, that's part of the Jaws of the Jungle poster.
I like the vibe of the pre-50's roadshow style posters, but they come in some unpredictably weird-ass sizes. Makes it a wee bit more difficult to frame 'em.
Peter is the reason I started appreciating that film, yeah!
When in need of batshit bats, the argentinean does the job too
Is there a thread with some of your beauties? If I didn't collect aussie stuff, QUADS and the Argentines would be right up my alley! We need to see MORE!
I've just seen this Ves... might start that thread, I've been taking decent pics of my stuff lately

Looks like it's been mid-July since I posted anything, so for the handful of members and lurkers that enjoy the kind of drivel I buy, I figured it prudent to at least get caught up with recent acquisitions. There's quite a few, so I'll just post 'em a half dozen at a time or so. My longtime disclaimer still applies - in most all cases I'm using photos from the purchase of the poster, as I'm too lazy to take my own after it arrives. So, it always ends up that there's a mish-mash of photo sizes when I post them here. Sorry. Anyhow, here goes:
Like the Skid Row window card I purchased earlier this year, I'm pretty sure that this WC is not a cheapo later reprint. While I know it's hard to date these exploitation/sexploitation roadshow-ish titles (and I'm certainly no expert) I'd guess it from the late 40's, early 50's.
Same feeling applies about dating posters for this title. I know there are a few different sizes and colors. This one is 30x40 inches, and was purchased from one of the finest names in posterdom, Canadadave from Posteropolis:
One of the sub-categories I collect is posters for 1950's 3D movies. Among the titles that don't pop up for sale frequently is Hannah Lee. I managed to get a 3 sheet for it last year, but with regards to easily displayable sizes, I'm still looking. I picked this up, as the credits and 3D-ish artwork is the same, but no 3D text on the poster, and according to IMDB, Outlaw Territory was a reissue title:
No movie poster here, but obviously tied to the Roger Rabbit franchise. Probably something that was available on Disney's website or at their parks:
More public service/hygiene, er, (s)exploitation nonsense here:
Another cautionary tale here. Do NOT end up on the wrong side of the tracks!
And to wrap things up for now, a tale of adolescent girls and those pesky hormones:
Zowie! Love the exploitation titles---especially STREET CORNER and BECAUSE OF EVE. However, the re-titled, 2-D re-issue of the 3D flick I find the most interesting. While I've heard of HANNAH LEE, I am not sure I have a one sheet for it. UGH! Another to add to my list of wants, I suppose. (Or is it?) Nice additions to your collection and nicely curated. (Don't knock yourself. They really are great pick ups!)
Thanks, MAGG. Yeah, Hannah Lee is one that doesn't pop up often, and Silver Lode is another. I just checked the 3D film archive website, and they have Silver Lode listed as one that was supposed to be 3D, but it didn't happen. I probably shouldn't have checked that website, as it reminded me how many 50's 3D posters I lack. Ugh.
Thanks...I jumped over to the 3D Archives site. I've contributed to (Kickstarter) several of their restoration projects and think I have all of their blurays---just no 3D TV to watch them on. ARGH! I am fortunate enough to have several vintage 3D posters---but know there are MANY more I "need." That keeps the poster hunt fresh, I suppose...
Allrighty, it's time to post another round of recent acquisitions. Will this be as grippingly exciting as the last batch? Sadly no, but we'll forge ahead nonetheless.
As with so many other posters and genres I'm no expert on, I was unaware that after the first round of posters were banned or recalled or whatever happened, that they altered the art, covering up Ms Green's nekkidness a bit more and released a second version. Apparently this is what I ended up with.
This pic is a comparison of the two I found online:
So I'm still on the hunt for the more lurid version. Ugh. Continuing on, I saw an image of this poster in Paul Veysey's Motor Movies - The Posters book, and for the car related art, tracked one down for myself.
This one is just a herald, but early car racing movie stuff is a bit hard to track down, so I thought at some point I might have a poster made of the cover of it. And heck, it THROBS WITH THRILLS, so how can you go wrong?
This one was just an inexpensive half sheet, but I liked the title, as it seemed like one of those morality questioning exploitation titles:
This one was also inexpensive and not in perfect shape (like most of my collection), but I like posters with titles/art featuring a strong female lead:
And for the last one I'll subject you to, er, treat you with today, a rerelease poster that is slightly better looking than the original release. It's definitely fluff with regards to subject matter, but it's my kinda fluff:
Groovy batch. Too bad you didn't have the censored version of Ms Green's poster. Yowza! Dig the TAHITI HONEY (tiki-esque, of course) and RACING YOUTH as well. CHEERS!
Hopefully the excitement of my first two return posts has subsided a bit. With what I'm sure is significant mania caused by my carefully chosen and curated works of art, I don't want to challenge your collective fragile personal constitutions any more than necessary. Having said that, and expressing my deep love and concern for my fellow poster addicts, er, collectors, let's continue.
This one is more or less fluff in the world of bad girl/juvenile delinquent titles. It was inexpensive, so it's fate will probably be to be resold somewhere down the line to try and help fund the purchase of something else:
I loves me some early animation stuff, and although this poster is most definitely not early (I think it's advertising a video/dvd collection) the likelihood of the rare visitor to the rock-o-mansion being fluent in German is pretty remote. It just appears as a groovy Tex Avery cartoon poster:
When I can find interesting ones, I like to add posters for short subjects to the collection. When displaying in the house, they add some variety and interest to the mix of posters displayed:
This one is in pretty rough condition, but I had never run across the title, even having most of Bruce's books, and the books on exploitation posters by Nourmand, Newell and Muller/Faris. Hopefully I can straighten it up a bit with some document repair tape and a bit of masking with matting:
What Dave has said for all these years about the relative scarcity of some titles (they don't show up often in any condition) rings true with this one. Posters for it do pop up - I think there's a 3 sheet on the 'bay as we speak, but it does take 'em a while to show up. That said, this one, like the one above, is a bit condition challenged, but it's the whole beggars and choosers thing. I'm happy to have it:
And lastly for today, another title I'm happy to get my mitts on. As with so many other titles, the 1 sheet would be better, but I'll take what I can get:

If it makes you fell better, I am not sure the rejected version was ever printed... Even the French poster were censored. I had to buy a vinyl banner from asia to get my kicks (back when it came out)... Does anyone have a legit uncensored version?
There was one on ebay a month or two back that the seller claimed was recalled/banned, but at the time, I didn't know that there were potentially two versions. That one had a couple scratches on it, one being on her face, so I wasn't super interested, and didn't know to check how "censored" it was.
It's not one that I'm fanatical about getting, it would just be a good companion for the Bertha/Gaga one I bought that wasn't printed. I'll still keep an eye out though.
I still don’t think the censored version was actually printed for distribution. I remember working pretty hard to find one when the movie came out. Bruce has never sold one... I’ll have to do more digging.

I am thinking they are bootlegs. I would love to see one in person.

Grab your handkerchief or box of facial tissues, as this is the last and shortest installment of recent acquisitions to get back up to date. To be sure, more tears will flow from happiness that I'm caught up and you won't be subjected to daily posts of bird cage linings than "THAT'S ALL THERE IS? I CAN'T GO ON!". At any rate, here's the last 4.
For starters, just one that I've been meaning to pick up over the years. This one has wear, extra fold lines, etc, but it'll display fine:
Next, one that has been on my want list, and it was happily and proudly sourced from the esteemed collection of the oldest ho in posters:
These next (and last) two traveled 2524 miles to arrive at the rock-o-mansion. They came from beautiful (or so I hear) San Francisco, CA. No small feat, that, as they're both on non-foldable, non-rollable cardstock and they're 40x60 inches. This first one I have seen a 1 sheet version of:
This is the back:
And here is a detail of the label:
The second of the two mammoth size posters has a familiar title, but I've not been able to track down a picture of this poster art in another size/format yet:
Here's the back of that one:
And pics of the label and one of the stamps, which have all been crossed out in pencil:
So that's it. Whether yours are tears of grief or joy, that's all the excitement I can provide for the moment. Recently the living room got repainted and redecorated with movie posters and related ephemera, so look for those pics in whatever thread I have that would be appropriate.
Just to keep up to date with recent acquisitions, here's the two latest. One car geek-y, one explotation-y, and they'll be able to compliment posters I have for the respective titles.
And this is a lobby I've had for a long time now (which I'd love to have a 1 sheet for under any and all of the other titles it was known by: Hitchhike To Hell, Going My Way, Mister?, Highway Girls, Highway Hell, Honky Tonk Girl - which I fortunately have a 1 sheet for - and in Matias' neck of the woods, Las sirenas del camino):
What?? He's back again? OH HELL YES. It's hump day, so it's time to GET MY FREAK ON, er, poster-wise that is. Sorry for any disturbing visual that may have unintentionally created. Anyhow, per usual, you won't be finding the need to track down a pen and paper for a note home. It's merely more stuff that amuses me. Without further ado:
Egads. Another monster-ass picture. Sorry. This one is in sketchy condition like so many of my other posters, but it'll be a good one to mix in with the posters for cartoons and other shorts:
Not a great bad girl poster here, but a pretty decent one. It'll make a good companion poster for some of the better titles of wimmins with questionable moral choices:
And lastly for this post (but at this rate I'll be back before you can recover from the grief and boredom this post has foisted on you), a couple scene lobbies to inch me closer to having a complete set for this title. Definitely dull cards, but as we know, sometimes being a completist ain't pretty:
I love that you are getting your freak on and posting stuff. Ha! Believe it or not, my favorite of this batch is the JUNGLE CAT poster. Keep it up ( the postings...). Gotta go and get...well you know (RN is here). Cheers
Thanks, Chris. The quote on the lexan for 40x60 is $75, now I gotta get a quote on the frame sections. What ever happened to just putting posters up on the wall with tacks? Ugh.
Thanks, ghoul-tiki. I'm with ya. Sometimes it's the offbeat or unusual ones that are the grooviest. Good luck today.
LONDON CALLING! IT'S QUADRATASTIC! IT'S CINEMALICIOUS! IT'S - well, it's not that exiting, really. I'm getting irresponsibly poorer by the day, and the posters keep coming. HOWEVER, since I've dragged you to the edge of your seat(s), and I certainly would not like you to fall off in anticipation, I'll make with the photos and let you go on about your day. These have only started their journey across the pond, so I do not have them in my possession yet, but when they arrive, they'll be greeted by a loving, if not slightly overcrowded, poster home:
With regards to 100% useless trivia, on the quad below, as on the US half sheet, the artwork next to the text box that says GENE VINCENT SINGS, is not at all of Gene Vincent. It's actually John Ashley's character in disguise as a recently fabricated pop star.
And before there was Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, etc, etc, etc, there was John Ireland and Dorothy Malone:
That's all for now. Nothing more to see here. Go on about your lives, citizens.
Nice additions. I knew there was an earlier FAST AND THE FURIOUS, but never looked into it. John Ireland and Dorothy Malone? Hmm. I might have to check it out. Cheers
