  • Is 265 Dracula’s Daughter?
It certainly is Dracula's Daughter from 1936. Good work in identifying it Peter.

Correct and also good work in identifying Monster On The Campus from 1958, and also Dracula's Daughter as well.

268 - Murders in the Rue Morgue (1932). A film I just watched recently
Correct. How does the film stand up Peter ninety three years on?

  • I loved it, but I'm a bit of a pre-code nut.

    Peter
  • I loved it, but I'm a bit of a pre-code nut.
Same here. Two of my favourite pre code films are I Am A Fugitive From A Chain Gang (1932) and Red Dust (1932).
  • The yet unanswered 267 has a strong connection to the answered 268.
  • A new clue for 267 is Paris,
  • Ha! I see what you did. Phantom of the Rue Morgue (1954)

    Peter
  • Ha! I see what you did. Phantom of the Rue Morgue (1954)
Yes indeed a correct answer for 267. I am glad my last clue triggered the answer.

Both the films Phantom Of The Rue Morgue (1954) and the earlier filmed Murders In The Rue Morgue (1932) are different, though both are based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story The Murders In The Rue Morgue.

The below scene where the murdered woman's body falls suddenly and unexpectedly down the chimney, in front of the police is the only genuine shock in the whole film.

  • C270 - Is it The Tingler (1959)?      .
    Correct.

The film gained a mild Not Suitable For Children censorship classification when released in Australia, This was after the film was severely cut by the censor. The film's original running time was reduced from 82 minutes to 69 minutes. A whopping 13 minutes of the original footage, amounting to being 15.9% of the film was removed. A classic example of how Australian  film censors detested horror films at that period of time.

If anyone may be interested in Australian  censorship you can check out here on the forum the earlier titled Excessive Examples Of Film Censorship In Australia.  This first introduced 2016 t hread can be located by searching the archives,
