Australian Censorship ( non horror & violence )

I wish I had an image to provide but I don't so here we go. The AIP comedy film How To Stuff A Wild Bikini from 1965 was released in Australia as How To Fill A Wild Bikini. Years ago I sighted an American lobby card that was obviously used during the original release here with the word stuff crudely altered by crayon or pen to the word fill which apart from being very obvious looked awful.

  • Here is one of my favourites...loved and still enjoy this film.

    Aussie daybill:

After I had the horrible silver stuff removed:

And then on the one sheet....

    NOTHING!  Sheesh, go figure!

  • Not Australian censorship but done in NZ most likely due to the A rating stamp...can't possible show her arm around him!

  • Censorship in any media in that period was rampart. The Johnny Horton hit song in 1959 of Battle Of New Orleans had the following lyrics in the song - ''And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans". The word bloody was removed when played on some Australian radio stations at the time.
