Blood On Satan's Claw Daybill Errors.

Blood On Satan's Claw ( 1971 ). There are two errors on this daybill. Any  thoughts or answers as to what they are?

  • Dunno, but I see the IMDb has it with an R18+ rating when, according to classification.gov.au, in fact it was released in 1972 with an M rating but re-rated in 1982 with an R18+ and also rated R18+ for video in 1984.
  • There are two versions in red & black ink. Pancho has both styles.
  • Are the two daybills exactly the same design, apart from the colour? An image of the red one would be great. Imput so far appreciated but as we are nowhere close in solving the question please keep thinking?
  • There well may be an identical daybill that exists in red and I'm sure you are right Mark, but if there isn't one then a clue to help solve the mystery possibly could be in the word red. Pancho or anyone else that has a red style daybill image would you please post it on this thread?
  • I also have a brown and white version too!  =)

Do you know if all the three styles are the same design Pancho?

  • Yep, all 3 styles are the same.

Thank you for clearing up a query I had.
  • The word programme usually means more than one. This film was released on a double bill overseas. Both films from the same British distributor. One of the images doesn't belong on the poster. Confusion with the overseas double bill release material perhaps ?   Surely I have given enough clues to solve the problem.

  •  Clue - 'Blood' and the "Beast" in a chill-filled festival of horror! This appeared on a British double bill film poster.
  • Final clues are the far top image on the daybill poster is from a different film and the company that made the two films pictured on the poster competed for horror film audiences against Hammer and Amicus at the time of the films' releases.
  • The image at the top of the Blood On Satan's Claw daybill is an image of  Beryl Reid and Flora Robson appearing in the film Beast In The Cellar. Both films were produced by Tigon British Film Productions and released in the U.K .and the U.S.A. often as a double bill.

The incorrect image and the word programme on the Blood On Saturn's Claw possibly happened when a mistake was made when staff from Roadshow, who released the two films under discussion, became confused when looking at some overseas double bill material.

  • Great pick up! Interesting...the daybill for Beast uses a similar image, but certainly not the same:

    Well researched/spotted Lawrence

The similar scene to the bottom right image that appears on the Blood On Satan's Claw daybill I have seen before. The image appeared on a U.S. VHS cover slick but with the image reversed.
  • Flora Robson was one hell of an actress, too.
