Thanks David. Most helpful since the posters shown in the film really are disappointing!! It is an Italian cinema!!!!  Look at Casablanca ..it should be the Martinati not that one !!!! And later on you get glimpse  of GWTW  and it is not the Brini but the "usual" usa poster.....

Actually the Aussies will always win track and field:

  • Fantastic win by Fiji in the Rugby Sevens.
  • Fiji impress by winning their first ever medal, and it's a gold, at the medal ceremony showing respect to Princess Anne, then party on down at Maccas...

Things don't go to plan in the pool for Aussie but Phelps grabs another cup medal or two, the greatest of all time. The self proclaimed king of the 1500m, Sun Yang, gets weighed down by his crown and fails to make the finals.

Aussie walker Dane Bird-Smith walked a personal best 1hr 19mins 37 seconds to hold on to win bronze "It's bloody epic. I just can't believe it..."

NZ get on the top dais with the men's coxless pair, back to back Olympic golds, then again, they haven't been beaten in eight seasons...

On the track Ethiopia's Almaz Ayana shatters the 10,000m record, a further first 12 women cross the line with personal bests, including five national records, a total of 18 personal bests being broken in total. The early question: is the track the right size?

    off to watch Cinema Paradiso....
Epic film, will have to rewatch it soon. No puedo ver esa escena final sin que se me haga un nudo en la garganta...

Curious to know which of the three versions you watch ?  Is it the 123 or 124 minute original theatrical version , the 155 minute version or the 173 minute version.

I have only seen the film on DVD after its first theatrical releases here in Australia. I remember enjoying it very much but I can clearly remember throughout the credits at the end there were many brief scenes shown that weren't in the film I had just watched and I found that most annoying. My question is if I was to revisit the film which version do you recommend ?

    The theatrical version.

This list is confusing to me, but an impressive 19 medals by Australia, nothing to sneeze at with more days to go, and of course NZ, but Hungary is impressive and further down, South Korea becoming a real power.
  • Texas has 9 medals so far... At 2.9 million per.
  • Winter Olympics are more our style...we only have 2 months of summer afterall
  • Winter Olympics are more our style...we only have 2 months of summer afterall

That's 7 weeks longer than Great Britain.
  • Yes...in Great Britain you are lucky if you get 7hours..of Summer...
  • We just had to watch again Mo Farah's race, his 10,000m were magical. That man can run.
  • Updated Texas Medal Count:

    Gold: 10
    Silver: 4
    Bronze: 3

    One medal per 1.58 million...
  • Great Britain doing well these games.

    Must be Brexit
  • ...And Simone Biles... Bronze today..she is terrific anyway...

Was this the one where he fell over?  I forget the distance.

If so that is very impressive!  To pick yourself up and just keep on going and win well, the man is made of good things!

  • Poor aussie swimmers...all that money and attention and PRESSURE and then, fizzle out to not a lot.

I would hate to be those two sisters.  You could see it on their faces how disappointed they were.

The pressure that is put on these kids is ridiculous.  No wonder so many stumble when it comes down to the pointy end.

Yes, very true.  I don't know how some manage to perform on the day. The medal forecast is ridiculous, some of these athletes are very young and inexperience. All that pressure only makes matters worse.  Simone Biles who usually gets well over 15.00 on the beams today "only" managed 14.73

But then, I guess it has always been like this.  In the "good old days" athletes like Nadia Comaneci had to deal with her fare share of pressure too.

  • I am annoyed by the odd athlete that is now saying they are building towards Tokyo.

    What?
  • My biggest issue with the Olympics so far = the rampant use of the word "quadrennial"!

  • Could be worse, they could be using bibiennial.
  • Awful. Just embarrassing and sad watching the French pole vault silver medallist being booed by the Rio  crowd at the medal ceremony.

No wonder the poor man looked so upset.
