Films That Actually Received The Axe In Australia

Story from an Australian newspaper dated 13-11-1931. Thought a necessity to action in 1931 but sad to think about today. I  believe the majority of those Paramount silent films destroyed no longer exist. Some of the films most likely  included  in the destruction appear above.

  • Highly flammable. I remember seeing a film/scene where someone tried to get on a Double Decker bus with them and the conductor said 'you can't bring those on the bus' as if it was known to be illegal.

    Anyone remember the film?
  • My grandparents founded a portrait studio in 1906, and my parents took it over in the 1950s.  The negative archives were stored in metal file cabinets in the basement.  One evening when I was quite young a small cabinet that contained nitrate negatives spontaneously combusted.  Fortunately it occurred while the place was still open and the fire was put out with a heavy coated tarp.  The next day all the old nitrate negatives were removed and destroyed.
