Just packing a pair of the Wolf Creek 2 Aussie One Sheets and noticed the Jarrat one has a rating of MA while the Backpacker version has an R rating.

WTF?  Not snipes, printed on the actual posters

The original Wolf Creek 2 106m theatrical version was classified R by the Australian censor on 26 August 2013.

A modified Wolf Creek 2 104m version was classified MA for DVD on 17 December 2013.

Interestingly the above MA poster states in Cinemas Februaruy 20, so work that one out.

O.k. to clear things up the following happened. To obtain a MA 15+ rating approximately two minutes were removed to gain this classification. The earlier poster with the R rating is an advance poster stating only ''In Cinemas Soon''. Once the new rating was approved a second poster with the MA15+ rating was printed with ''In Cinemas February 20'' appearing.  Would then the R rated version possibly be the rarer of the two?

Thanks Lawrence.  I didn't mean to imply I was in any way frustrated with your answer.

Just why the change.  I am pretty sure the original movie was rated R so why they would want to go backwards with this one...I have no idea.

The backpacker one might be rarer, but everyone wants the Jarratt version!

An MA version increases the potential numbers of the paying audience. I believe this was the reason for the distributor's thinking for the change in the classification.
