Wolf Creek 2

Just packing a pair of the Wolf Creek 2 Aussie One Sheets and noticed the Jarrat one has a rating of MA while the Backpacker version has an R rating.

WTF?  Not snipes, printed on the actual posters

Comments

  • Yeah probably should have included pictures...

  • The original Wolf Creek 2 106m theatrical version was classified R by the Australian censor on 26 August 2013.

A modified Wolf Creek 2 104m version was classified MA for DVD on 17 December 2013.

Interestingly the above MA poster states in Cinemas Februaruy 20, so work that one out.

  • Now I am even more confused!

    Huh...thanks Lawrence.

  • O.k. to clear things up the following happened. To obtain a MA 15+ rating approximately two minutes were removed to gain this classification. The earlier poster with the R rating is an advance poster stating only ''In Cinemas Soon''. Once the new rating was approved a second poster with the MA15+ rating was printed with ''In Cinemas February 20'' appearing.  Would then the R rated version possibly be the rarer of the two?
  • Thanks Lawrence.  I didn't mean to imply I was in any way frustrated with your answer.

Just why the change.  I am pretty sure the original movie was rated R so why they would want to go backwards with this one...I have no idea.

The backpacker one might be rarer, but everyone wants the Jarratt version!

  • An MA version increases the potential numbers of the paying audience. I believe this was the reason for the distributor's thinking for the change in the classification.
