May 2014

As per Paul’s request in the other thread here is the 40x60. It came yesterday from emovieposter and was packaged perfectly in a double tube. The poster is in better condition then I understood it to be from reading the auction description, so everything is good. I’ve wanted one of these for a while now but every time I managed to find one, the price was always near the cinemasterpieces price point, so I stayed clear. This one is getting framed next week.

  • I understand why you took the bus to pick it up....no change left for the limo ride.

That's a fantastic piece Mic, congrats!!!
    ^:)^
  • Thanks Matt. The original plan was to just walk the 5 miles to my house and call it exercise for the day, which I've done before. However, there was no way I was going to hold this and walk with it for 80 minutes. On the bus people were just looking at the tube. One lady asked me what was in it, but she didn't know what Barbarella was.

lol. You could've said it was German Metropolis three sheet, you would of got the same response. hehehe.

Just a quick question for you. Can you see the extent of the resto done to the left and right borders?
  • You can't really see it unless you use a flashlight behind the poster. You do know something is different when you touch the right and left borders. The poster itself is in great shape and thats what I was most surpised about. Ive personally come across the Barbarella 40x60's before, but they were either paperbacked or linen backed. So I'm happy.

Well you better get it framed and linked to an alarm system before someone(me) comes over and steals it! ;)
  • Awesome! Congrats Michael
  • 25 years ago I used to buy linenbacked six-sheets, and I would go to the Post Office to pick up the tube. The clerks and the people on the street would always ask if I had bought a bazooka!

That's just a great poster, fantastic colours, I have no doubt in person far far better in person than on screen.

  • Well done Michael! Congrats, awesome poster no doubt about it!
  • Congrats.
  • Thanks everyone. It does look good in person.  When I first pulled it out of the tube I had to take a second look, because when I’ve dealt with 40x60’s that are this old before. They’ve never been in this kind of shape.  So I was a little taken back. When I took the above photo. There was an Eastwood 40x60 from 71 off to the side and you could just see the difference.
  • Awesome!
  • yeah so don't tell the wife:

  • Well that's an interesting within completist offshoot.

    Congrats
  • Yeah, it was an easy choice.   B-)
  • I collect both Kidman and Kelly, I mean...
  • Weren't you narrowing the collection Charlie?
    ;)
  • Yeah well, I like to buy too.  First poster in about 30 days - so I am doing good. The other one I posted was a freebie, I think.
  • I don't think anyone will beat that Barbarella this month, Jollyfine Michael..
  • Congratulations Michael, that will look great on the wall. A good excuse to watch Barbarella more often.

I know a Michael in Sydney who has been looking for one of those for a long time too... Take it to Studio M and make the Michael there envious!

  • Battleship!!!

  • Nice one Matais!

After a self imposed hiatus, these came in today.

  • 3 cheers for 3 daybills
  • Audrey hog...

Wow, Reach for the Sky is beautiful, the others not too shabby either. John Saxon tells some interesting stories about the set of Unforgiven.

  • I'm obviously doing something wrong with photobucket- but it works fine on other sites???
