War of the Worlds Original POSTER

Hello All!

I am seeking help identifying this poster.  It is an original (I believe) War of the Worlds poster.  What is a little strange is the dimensions.  It measures 22" x 33 1/3" tall.   I'm just trying to figure out any info.  Thank you all for the help as always!

  • Most likely not original at those dimensions... it is also a bit too shiny to be period IMO.

Here is an original on linen.

Yours has no NSS information, and the white border around the poster looks um interesting.  And as Charlie says, way too shiny.

    Not an original I'm afraid.

No idea if these were commercially reproduced by anyone at some point.  US guys have any idea?

  • Oh, had filters on at Bruce's site which excluded commercial posters.

Looks like this one is yours...

  • It shows significant age and hokes and paper loss. It looks old to me.
  • Viva Las Vegas                                                                 The War Of The Worlds

I didn't hear back regarding what the Viva Las Vegas printing says on your earlier thread. Both Viva Las Vegas and The War Of The Worlds wording appear similar to me. Curious to know if they have the same credits and what they say?

The reproduction Ves believes is yours in shown above and your image following below is minus the bottom credit line. Your poster certainly looks old.

  • I'm pretty sure that it dates back to the right period.
  • I've got posters from the 80s and 90s that look like that....
  • It's a reproduction, sorry...
  • Definitely a reproduction

Along with Ves also, I agree. Two posters and two reproductions.

  • That's a repro, but the original Aussie daybill got more than $3000A on the emovieposter auctions this week.

Has aged (due to conditions) and had some paper loss due to handling and storage, still a repro.

The wording on the above The War Of The Worlds poster part image reads '' Movie Poster Reproduction Inc. N.Y. N.Y. 10003  ( 1983 Edition ).

Still love to see what the Viva Las Vegas wording says?  Stoogeco, please ?

  • We all agree that the poster, along with Viva Las Vegas,  is a reprint then ?

Nothing to do with The War Of The Worlds, but as I am not starting up any new threads these days, and as this has to do with reproductions, I will ask a question here ?

Many many years ago I viewed a Sands Of Iwo Jima film poster. It was the same design as the following image.

The poster I looked at was full bleed and minus the white borders. Guessing the size  to be around 20'' x 30''. The poster was laminated on board. A commercial poster for sure. From researching this title ii is possibly a Portal Publications licensed poster. Any thoughts, and a question is, were there many commercial trimmed posters sold lamined on board or was the poster trimmed and laminated on board by someone after purchasing the item ?
