That Thanksgiving is better than mine. And I love that Bees, although the other version is better
Hi! Thanks for visiting. Which THANKSGIVING do you have? Truth be told, I wasn't really wild about any of the THANKSGIVING one sheets... BUT I was happy they got the film made (FINALLY!)
  • Hello! Welcome back! Yes, it has been a while since we were last here together. As you know, my buying power has been significantly cut in recent years and what funds I do have left are getting exhausted. Quickly. I tell you that to prepare you for another less-than-stellar edition. O' there are a few pieces I am really pumped about. The rest are sort of... eh, you'll see. (It's not like I haven't posted poster turds before...) Come, grab a seat and take a look if you'd like. The show is beginning now...

    AMITYVILLE (video series posters):

The following four images I am lumping together as "one poster". They're all 11x17 (a size I don't usually bother sharing). They are also for some of the lowest-budgeted "films" (ahem!) you will ever see. Yes, they are all AMITYVILLE movies. As Amityville is a town and cannot be copyrighted, anyone can make an AMITYVILLE movie--and several non-talented bozos have given it a shot and shat them out. I've seen almost all of them. I feel compelled to--even though it is torture getting through most of them. (Of the four direct to video AMITYVILLE posters below, I have seen one, have two more, and am cointemplating buying the fourth.)  I got this group of posters though, just for curiousity's sake. I'd never seen any posters (of any size) for the non-theatrical  (apart from "AMITYVILLE 1992: IT'S ABOUT TIME and AMITYVILLE: NEXT GENERATION back in the VHS days) "movies" before.

    AMITYVILLE KAREN (11x17):

This one is one of the ones I have, but have not seen yet. I'm sure it is utter crap--as the glut of these recent AMITYVILLE flicks are. Micro-micro-budgeted, I have to pace myself and only watch one every few months or so... (But by then, another half a dozen or so will have popped up!)

    AMITYVILLE DEATH TOILET (11x17):
This may be one of the worst "films" in the AMITYVILLE series. (The worst that I've seen so far would have to be AMITYVILLE HEX.) This one is truly about a killer toilet...and also has a JAWS-inspired plot. This was soooooo hard to get through. (But AMITYVILLE OUTHOUSE--Yes, one really exists-- was even worse...)
    AMITYVILLE THANKSGIVING (11x17):
I haven't seen this turkey yet. I think I am thankful for that. Hmm.
    AMITYVILLE BIGFOOT (11x17):
This is the one I am thinking of buyung and is the poster that got me to purchase this set. I'm sure it's just as much dreck as the others. What stupidity will they dream up next? Does it matter? Slap AMITYVILLE on the title and I'll be compelled to see it. Blah!

    THE STEWARDESSES (Special Edition re-release):

ARGH! I am sooooo mad at myself for buying this. Why? BECAUSE I already had a poster for the film--the colorful original release poster. When I bid on this, I wasn't sure I had one. Drat! This one is a different style, though. But still... I did NOT need it. The film, for those who do not know, had a very unusual release. It did not go out of release for years, but was continually changed over the course of the time it was in theaters. Things were added (This appears to be the X-rated version with insert shots added.) or removed (3D) throughout its run. It made a mint and launched the sub genre of sexy stewardess movies.

    THE NIGHT RUNNER:
"Are mental parients turned loose too soon?" I'd never heard of this 1957 melodrama until I came across this poster. The tagline was fun. The poster not so much. Guessing the film isn't all that great either.

    (THIS ISSPINAL TAP:
This is a very funny movie. I've been passively looking for a copy for years. I'll never hang it up, but I wanted to add it to my collection. Unfortunately it is folded (There were rolled copies as well) and has an extra fold line. Grrr. It was inexpensive, so... SOLD.

    HATCHET FOR THE HONEYMOON:
Hooray! I've been passively looking for this one sheet for the 1970 Mario Bava flick for years as well. It's not that hard to find, but for some reason I keep "missing" it. It's not the greatest poster ever, but--it's for an Italian giallo classic. Another title off of the list...

    THE CONQUEROR WORM:
This has nothing to do with Edgar Allen Poe despite saying it's his story, quoted bit on the poster, and using his title. Filmed as and released elsewhere as WITCHFINDER GENERAL, AIP slappped the Poe stuff on to fool theatergoers into thinking it was another of their Poe adaptations (which also usually starred Vincent Price). Not the case. Although the knock-off movie, MARK OF THE DEVIL, that came 2 years later is probably more well known (mostly because of it's marvelously exploitative ad campaign, stating the movie was the "first film rated V for violence" and the vomit bags that were handed out to all theater patrons), WITCHFINDER GENERAL, er...THE CONQUEROR WORM is the superior movie. I am fairly certain I already had one of these, but in the moment this was available, I wasn't sure. I snagged it just in case.

    THE INVISIBLE BOY (1973 re-release):
I have one of these already, but when a cheap one comes your way--why not another? I have no idea if these posters are worth anything or not. It is a re-release, but it also features Robby the Robot! I've never seen the flick. It's probably horrendous, I'm guessing. Whatever...

    E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL:
I'm pretty sure I have/had one of these at one time,. However, as I recall, it was pretty sun faded when I got it and , in the back of my mind, I've been watching for a better copy. I didn't really need this and know I'll probably never display it, but... it's E.T.!!!

ANDY WARHOL'S FRANKENSTEIN (aka FLESH FOR FRANKENSTEIN) (French re-release):
While not as nice as the British quad version, this French poster for the film is head and boobies, er...shoulders better than either the original or 80s re-release posters for the US release. Although 3-D is not mentioned, the image of the impaled Udo Kier and the guy reaching in through the window allude to 3-D.

    FROM HELL IT CAME (3-sheet):
WOW-zer! I've been after a one sheet for this flick for ages. They have just always slipped my grasp and gotten too expensive. When this 3-sheet came along, I was thrilled. I'm not really a fan of the size, but I do have a few. They tend to be more reasonable, price-wise--and I had tried to get others in the past. This one, while not perfect, became mine! YOWZA!
And that is my 10 for this post. Nothing too exciting, as I said, but I thank you for joining me once again.
Until next time, whenever that may be...
Oh wait! I keep forgetting... If you'f like a gander ar the latest batch o' my movie poster-inspired mail art envelopes, the link is HERE. The image below is a sample.

    CHEERS!!!

Hi Rick! Thanks for visiting. No...I doubt the AMITYVILLE flicks will EVER end. Seriously... a new one just came out, AMITYVILLE BACKPACK. I've seen IndieGoGo listings for AMITYVILLE AI, AMITYVILLE ALIENS, and  ALIEN BACKROOMS. Jeepers! O' the horror! UGH!
  • An impressive From Hell It Came 3 sheet.

Hello. Welcome back. Today's offerings are...rather unexciting for the most part. As I've said many times before, my poster-buying power has been greatly diminished. I fear my post-buying days are wrapping up, too. The Shock-O-Rama Poster Show may be finally coming to a close in the near future. For now though, here's the latest of what I have to share with you today:

    KING FRAT:
This was a fairly cheap poster--but supposedly rather rare? But really, it's not much to look at. I bought it because... I remember when this obscurity came out. Although I never saw it, it appeared to be some low-rent ANIMAL HOUSE wannabe. I was always curious... I bought it on disk (with THE CHEERING SECTION) on a clearance sale for old CODE RED products. (I guess that company went out of business?) I haven't watched it yet as I read the disk was taken directly from two very badly worn VHS sources. Oh well. I'll get to it someday. Maybe. The poster will go in a drawer. Whoopie...

    STAR WARS (Trilogy re-release 1997):
I came across a STAR WARS auction not too long back. I've never been a big STAR WARS fan, but I know others are...so I buy it is I deem it affordable enough. It turns out i alreadu had this 1997 re-release poster of the "special edition" version of the trilogy. I remember when this came out. The films were released one month at a time. But they STAYED. I remember driving next to a theater with four screens in town. The large marquee out front made me laugh. STAR WARS was in one theater. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK in another. RETURN OF THE JEDI in another. On the 4th screen was FOOLS RUSH IN. That I found pretty funny.

    STAR WARS
     (DVD rerelease 2004):
I hadn't seen this poster for the trilogy/original film before and picked it up inexpensively. It turned out to be for a DVD release. Oh well. It will just sit in a drawer anyway...
STAR WARS EPISODE 2: ATTACK OF THE CLONES (teaser):
Although I am no STAR WARS fan, I did manage to see all of the movie. The prequel series was awful (I saw the first one in the theater...didn't catch the other two until years later on DVD.) I thought these three flicks were just awful--with this one possibly being the worst of the three. (At least the Jarr-Jarr character wasn't in it... Was he?) These teaser sheets--I knew I had 2 of the 3 (for parts 1-3), but didn't have time to look to make sure. Unfortunately, it turns out this is NOT the one I needed. Oh well...into the drawer it goes.

    ABIGAIL:
I'm not sure what to expect from this vampire ballerina girl movie. It probably won't even play here anyway. But... It wasn't that expensive.

    THE FIRST OMEN (Final):
No, I have not seen this yet...and it seems doubtful it will ever play on my island. (The lone theather seems content to play the new GODZILLA/KING KONG, GHOSTBUSTERS, and DUNE sequel forever...) But the reviews on it seem to be more or less positive! I really like the OMEN series--even if they have gotten worse and worse as they went along. The first was a masteriece of horror. The second was campy fun. The third was a bit tedious. The 4th was a stillborn abomination. The remake was unnecessary. The TV series (DAMIAN) I thought had great potential and was disappointed it was cancelled so quickly. I am glad that this new movie seems to be putting the series back on track.

    TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE:
I remember the TV series this was based on--and actually remember seeing this in the theater. (I could probably tell you which auditorium of which movie house I saw this in, too!) I don't know why my movie-going memory is so strong for this flick--when I couldn't tell you a thing about the movie itself (other than I became perculiarly aware, during the credits, that Rae Dawn Chong was in it. I'd known that she was around, but up until that time I hadn't really seen her in anything that I was actually aware that she was in. I was most curious to see if the daughter of Cheech & Chong's Tommy Chong could act or not--or if she was just trading on her dad's name.) While I don't remember the movie, the poster is fun. This was cheap. Why not?

    JUNGLE WOMAN
     (re-release)
How fun! Yes, this is only a re-release poster, but hello? It's for the goofy, piece o' low-rent TARZAN-wannabe trash, JUNGLE WOMAN, starring the one and only ACQUANETTA! Ha! Evelyn Ankers and J. Carrol Naish also star.

THE VAMPIRE-BEAST CRAVES BLOOD and CURSE OF THE BLOOD-GHOULS (combo):
I was very surprised--when I looked it up on my blog--that I didn't have this poster already. I might have it, having gotten it before I started the blog. Just to be sure, I snagged this copy. THE VAMPIRE-BEAST CRAVES BLOOD (the film) is a rarity. I've never seen it. Apparently the "vampire beast" is a Deathshead moth that has been experimented on so that it can transform into a young woman to lure her victims in, which she drains of blood in her moth form! Faux Hammer shenanigans starring Hammer faves Petter Cushing and Robert Flemyng. A quote from Poe on the poster may also be trying to lead you to believe it's another Poe adaptation? Rated G! CURSE OF THE BLOOD GHOULS is maybe better known here as SLAUGHTER OF THE VAMPIRES, a black & white Italian shocker--also Rated G.

    FEMALE TROUBLE:
UGH! This is a love-hate purchase. LOVE because how many decades have I been after this? TOO MANY. HATE because it cost me sooooooo much money (and is only in "good to very good" condition). It was just one of those times where you just yell "F------------------" at the top of your lungs and bid because you know you'll never have one otherwise. Damn! I love me some John Waters...and this is probably my favorite of his films. Besides...as I write this (in early April), my birthday is less than a week away. This year, I feel like hell and will NOT be going anywhere to celebrate. This poster is my "celebration".(Now early May--I have it and it's already in a frame!)
That's my 10 for this time. I have a few posters (nothing exciting) held back for next time (if there is a next time). I hope you'll come back then. Before I go though, just in case you are interested, here are some MORE of my faux movie poster-like mail art envelopes I've been making and sending out.

  • Hi Rick. YES! I am THRILLED to have it. THANKS for the note. CHEERS!

And I'm back... This, I think, will be my final post of new posters. I had a few leftover posters from last time...and got others to fill out this post and get this done. I can't afford anything anymore and really, with my diminishing health, I should STOP collecting.

    TANYA'S ISLAND:
This was a cheap grab. I've never seen the movie, but have long wanted this poster. It's so doofy looking. This movie has been on my radar since its release--and it is amazingly hard to find. (As I said, I have NOT seen it yet.) From what I understand, it's basically KING KONG, but with a normal-sized ape (aka man in a bad moneky suit--based on the pictures I've seen) and a bit naughtier. (Hence the R-rating.) D.D. Winters is better known as Vanity, Prince's protegee back in the 80s. She apparently spends a good deal of the time naked. It's supposed to be bad. (No surprise.) I'd still like to see it.

    HOT DOG: THE MOVIE:
I don't know why I bought this. I'm ultra broke and it was cheap, I guess.

THE NEW HOUSE ON THE LEFT  (aka LAST STOP ON THE NIGHT TRAIN):
I have this poster already. However, it's one of those movie posters I have been drawn to and have bought several copies of. Of course, this was cheap, so... Why not? The poster is interesting. "The windows look out on hell?" THAT sounds cool. However, this poster and title are misleading. This movie does NOT take place in a house. In fact, almost the entire movie takes place on a train. (If you'll notice, the woman in the picture in the chair is sitting on a train seat--NOT a living room chair.) NEW HOUSE ON THE LEFT? What's the connection to LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT, or is there? Other than being very similarly themed, there isn't one. This movie was also released as LAST STOP ON THE NIGHT TRAIN, NIGHT TRAIN MURDERS, CHRISTMAS MASSACRE, TORTURE TRAIN, SECOND HOUSE ON THE LEFT, and LAST HOUSE - PART II (which, strangely, is also an alternate name for BAY OF BLOOD/TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE).

    HEADHUNTER (Video):
This is a HORRIBLE, ultra-boring movie that went straight to video back in the VHS days. Yes, I saw it way back when. Why buy this poster? Well, it is a cool poster. (Hello? It got me to rent it back then.) Plus, I needed something to pad out this probable final posting.

STAR WARS: ATTACK OF THE CLONES:

This is one of the two STAR WARS holdovers from the last post. I wasn't sure I had this or not. (It turns out I did.) So--it wasn't expensive, so...

    THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT:

This is the other STAR WARS holdover from the previous post. I know this is for a TV show, but I have never seen it. I'm not sure if this is a teaser or promoting a specific season or something else. Whatever. Into the drawer it go-goes...

    THE SUCKERS:
This poster is for a movie that is nudie-ish/sexed-up version of THE MOST DEANEROUS GAME from the late 60s/early 70s. It's a so-so movie, but I have seen it. It was apparently "lost" for many years. It was cheap...

KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES (final):
The PLANET OF THE APES series (well, at least the original one) is a sentimental favorite. The make-ups in the original series waere not realistic at all--but amazingly they worked somehow. My love for those films led me to buy one sheets for the series. Even though the new APES films are a diffierent series (based on the same materieal), my affinity for the originals has me continuing to collect the posters for the franchise. The new movie series' apes are computer animated (CGI). But I still go. I ordered this final one sheet for the latest flick in the series, KINGDOM OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, before I got to see it. (Of course, the poster got smashed in shipping and there is a tiny flaw down the length of the poster. Grr...) The movie was okay, but the whole while I was watching, I realized that the entire movie (except for the two human characters...and the few extras at the watering hole and those at the end) is basically a realistic animated movie. Oh well...

GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE (Final):
KING KONG and GODZILLA are also favorites of mine. However, I will be honest in saying I have NOT liked the new movies they've been in. They're too much like superhero movies (which I'm not a fan of). This, like the APES movie above, was also esentially a realistic cartoon with some human actors in it....not nearly as fun as the man-in-a-suit-trampling-miniatures movies of old. BUT, I went and saw it anyway. ...and, of course, bought a poster. I'll never hang it though (unlike my some of my older KONG and GODZILLA one sheets).
    2069: A SEX ODYSSEY:
I have another copy of this--but it has a lot more fold lines than this tri-fold. Crap movie--but cool poster.

    TAROT:
This came and went withOUT hitting the theater here on the island where I live. However, I saw the poster and really liked it. Sold! The movie probably sucks (I've heard zero about the movie since it's release. Hmm.), but... sometimes posters are better than the movie.

    ASSAULT ON A QUEEN:
I've always wanted to see this flick. It's about a mid-Atlantic heist aboard the Queen Mary. Frank Sinatra stars. Of course, the real Queen Mary was alredy retired and stationed in port in Long Beach which made filming easier. Ha! Rod Serling wrote the screenplay. I still want to see it.

    ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER MAN:
This may not look like much, but this is my prize purchase for this post. You may not know the movie, but it's one of the jaw-dropping odd, nudie-esque potboilers from Doris Wishman. This is from her middle period (after her nudist camp movies, but before her films got completely unwatchable). Titles like BAD GIRLD GO TO HELL, MY BROTHER'S WIFE, THE AMAZING TRANSPLANT, DOUBLE AGENT 73, etc. are just some amazingly mind-boggling. I'm thrilled to have another one of her titles in my collection.

And that's my thirteen (a few extras this time--why hold them?). And yes...this maybe the last regular posting. More and more I find myself buying stuff (filler) to pad out the posts so I can get them up and done. Why bother? While I'll always keep looking for certain things, I doubt I'll buy much. If I do manage to buy anything, I'll post them as they come. Otherwise, I'll be posting about my collection and what I am doing with it. (I've already started a post, actually.)
    Thanks for joining me. CHEERS!
  • It is always interesting to see what rare film posters of some obscure films you continually manage to add to your collection.
  • Thanks for looking and leaving a note, Hondo. Not much obscure here this time--but...  CHEERS!
  • 2069 and Headhunter win that battle.
But what do you mean about final posting?
  • Hi Rick. I'm glad there were a couple in the batch you liked. Thanks for posting. As for this being my "final posting" (of new purchases), I have all sorts of health issues and they've only been compounding lately. At this stage of the game, I think it best to step away from buying more posters (unless I can score something I'd really like--but I'm NOT holding my breath). Instead, I'll focus on the collection I already have. I am still recovering from a move 2 years ago--still unpacking, reframing, etc. I'll be hanging things, finding things I forgot I had, and separating things to send to auction, etc. I'll share posts about those things. But I believe my postings featuring my latest 10 purchases are over.  CHEERS!

I understand and hope that your health picks up soon. I buy a lot less these days but still enjoy what i have and the new titles that trickle in. We obviously have similar tastes so i always enjoy seeing your updates.
  • Hi Rick. I didn't remember your posters, so went to take a look. For some reason i couldn't see any of your images. Is it my (old) computer or were they removed? Interesting that we have similar tastes. Thank you again for visiting the page. Cheers!
  • i copy them from Facebook and i they seem to disappear after a while. My favourities are my horror and exploitation posters.
I have a good selection of this Facebook page

Oooooo very nice. Yes--similar tastes. I am especially envious of your KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE! Keep up the good work. CHEERS!

Welcome back to the Shock-O-Rama Poster Show. This edition is a bit different. As you may know, with certain exceptions that may come my way, I've by and large stopped buying posters. This post isn't about new posters. Instead it is about my first experiencing linenbacking posters.
If you've read any of my posts before, you will know that I am NO FAN of linenbacked posters. However, as my collecting days were slowing/coming to an end, getting things on linen seemed to be the only way I'd be ever able to enjoy certain posters if I wanted them. I now have several linenbacked posters in my collection. I'm about to have four more...
I am still working through a move I made 2 years ago. I am trying to get  my poster collection organized in some sort of manner. I am still going through boxes and tubes, trying to frame them or add them to my flat file drawers (or set them aside for either auction or to donate to thrift stores). During one such effort to (stupidly) pull my GODZILLA VS MEGALON poster out from under a very large (and heavy) pile of rolled posters, it ripped almost all of the way across the cener fold. (The picture below does not show the full extent of the tear.) F@#*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Initially I was planning on just trying to repair it with some archival tape (which I ordered, but as I write this, has still yet to arrive). The archival tape seemed the perfect solution and it wouldn't be that expensive. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized if I used the tape, I might not get the seam straight or something. Plus, well.. It was RIPPED regardless of any tape repair. ARGH!!! After years of resisiting having anything linenbacked (and I have several candidates that could use restoration or saving), I decided that I would bite the bullet because I needed to "rescue" this one.
For years, I've had posters with issues. The first copy of OLGA'S HOUSE OF SHAME that I got decades ago had a big rip on the top corner. The end was hanging on--but just barely. After the move, though...the corner had come off. UGH!
I had saved the corner--but... I never anticipated having the poster repaired. It was one I had recently come across again--so it went into the pile to have repaired.
The U.S. one sheet for the cult movie FORBIDDEN ZONE is a rarity. Except for the one I have, I have never seen another. Mine was water damaged before I bought it...and I was aware of it, but I bought it anyway. I like the poster and, despite the issues with it, I framed it.

However, the issues with it, while diminished behind the plexiglass, were still very visible.

The water damage was scattered throughout. Okay--this one went into the linenbacking pile.

There was also a stain in the top, center margin...which I belive is also from the water damage.

MALIBU HORROR STORY? What is that? This was a fairly recent flick--from 2022 or 2023. I'd never seen or heard of the movie when I saw the one sheet for sale...and had never seen other copies of it.  (I've looked on eBay recently--and there are several now. Hmm.) The seller had two copies, both in "very good condition." I ended up buying both. When they arrived, both had obvious handling crinkling. One had a two or three-inch tear on it. The other though had a huge rip more than half way up!
My finger points to where the rip ends. Grr! I was ripped off. However, even though this isn't worth much and is fairly new, I couldn't just trash it. I decided to send this off, too (even though I found a brand-new copy for far less than linenbacking this one will cost).

I jumped onto AllPosterForum.com to ask for help with finding a reliable linenbacker. The last two entries in the linenbacking thread were by users Crazy Vick and Big Mike. Both raved about BackingToTheFuture.com's work. However their pronouncements were a couple of years old. I asked the forum for updated recommendations. Big Mike got back to me and again praised BackingToTheFuture.com. Great! I contacted Dan at BackingToTheFuture and sent the posters off. Now I am just sitting and waiting. The upside is that they'll be repaired and it doesn't sound like they'll be very difficult to deal with. The downside is that BackingToTheFuture is located in Canada--which adds to the shipping costs, customs, etc. Oh well.

    **********
I sent the posters off. The company acknowleged receiving my package on June 17th. I know companies get busy and I have no idea how long it takes to linenback/repair a poster. When I didn't hear anything after a month, I sent a note (on July 23). I heard back a couple of days later, saying they expected to have them done by the end of summer.
I later (July 30) received this note:
"We have started working on your posters... I noted Malibu Horror Story is a double-sided poster... if we try and linen back a double sided poster there is a risk it will disintegrate... do you want us to try and linen back it... or just use archival tape and fix the tear and replace some of the missing colour?"
I told them that I had scored another copy of the poster and to just trash it.

                                                                        ***********
The posters arrived on August 27th. When Dan told me that they were done, he said they'd been sent already...and included the invoice. Junkies! I was shocked they trusted me to pay with the posters in the mail. (I paid right away, of course.) For the three posters (and postage), it was a walloping $645. EEK! Of course, that is Canadian dollars. The total in U.S. dollars was $490.71.
Dan and company did a good job. There were some imperfections still--but I was LOOKING for them (and knew where to look). Still, I was pleased overall.

The poster I thought they did the best job on was FORBIDDEN ZONE. The fold lines were still somewhat visible (unlike other linen posters I have that were originally folded), but I was still happy with it and popped it into the frame I had ordered especially for it.
Interestingly there were these certificates included, showing that these titles were linenbacked from Backing To The Future. Is that a thing? This was my first-ever linenbacking--so I don't know. However, I never got one from other posters I'd gotten at auction before. Hmm.

I do have a few other posters I really need to consider linenbacking that are in worse shape than these. I just need to come across them first. NO-I'm not a fan of linenbacking. I do, however, understand the restorative and preservative nature of the process. While I am open to other poster restoration suggestions (especially in the US, where the shipping costs might be lower), I was pleased with this experience and will probably go back to them with my other restoration needs.
Thank you, Dan and company at Backing To the Future!
  • I'm the same when it comes to linenbacking - only do it if necessary. In these cases, it was necessary and they now look great.
Too bad about all the damage on the Malibu posters - so much for "very good"!
  • On anything glossy, or slightly glossy, it is virtually impossible to make the folds disappear I suspect.
They look amazing, the price seems really reasonable!

I've never hear of or seen certificates before...new on for me too.

Hi Rick! Yes, if I hadn't ripped that GODZILLA poster (ARGH!!! I'm still frustrated about that.), I'd have never had any other things linenbacked. BUT--seeing how it came out, i do have others that need attention. Thanks for visiting the page.

There does seem to be a problem with glossy posters--certainly double-sided ones.
So I'm NOT the only one who knew nothing about the certificates? THANKS for letting me know. Thanks for visiting the page as well.

Welcome back! I certainly NEVER expected to be back with another Shock-O-Rama Poster Show, yet here I am. Sure, maybe a "special edition" (about hanging posters or framing them, etc.) would have popped up--but one with "new" posters? No. I have cancer and have been going through chemo for the last four months. Why buy posters if I wind up dead? I resisted for a long time, but...here I am, binging (and mostly on CRAP!). There are 14 here...instead of my ususual 10. I haven't been keeping track of the (utter trash) I've been buying. So, as best I can figure out, for better or worse (mostly worse), these are my new purchases since May or June. I am pulling this together as I realized it's the end of the year--and a "best of 2024" should happen. O' the fun... NOT! (You can see my picks for the year on my personal poster blog here: https://mymoviepostercollectionagogo.blogspot.com/2024/12/the-shock-o-rama-poster-show-2024.html ) I'm trying to recover from my last chemo treatment even now --and all I want to do is be in bed.

    THE BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS:
Several pieces I ended up with are in poor shape and I kick myself for buying them. This BRAIN FROM
PLANET AROUS, for instance, is more rough than I would normally buy… Grr. I hadn’t even really looked at it. Damn it.

    DEVIL'S DUE:
Another "what was I thinking purchase….!?!"   The robed woman with the impaled man on the pitchfork was interesting, but is it in the movie? Is this anything of note? Satan sex? Diabolical porn? (It’s x-rated.) It’s probably just crap.

    THE COLOSSUS OF NEW YORK:
Crap! I was initially thrilled with this, bidding almost as blindly as I had on BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS. When I first won it, I was thrilled. I have one on linen, but wanted one that was just paper…and then I saw the Canadian censor stamp. Damn it!!!

    WEREWOLVES:
This was another cheap pick up. I never saw this. It never played near me. Any good? Guessing not….

    FRIDAY THE 13TH LATE SHOW:
Here’s a generic drive in scream show poster for a double feature that is not announced. It LOOKS like it could be a Christopher Lee DRACULA flick. The hand in the corner LOOKS like it includes WEREWOLF IN A GIRLS’ DORMITORY as well… Or it could be anything at all! Whatever cut-rate double feature they come up with. It’s a boring poster and I paid too much for it…. (Sorry… I had to use eMovie’s image. I didn’t download my clean copy in time apparently…)

    COMMON LAW WIFE:
I dig the trashy, although I’ll never hang this poster. I have seen the flick. It’s no Doris Wishman, but it’s okay… for what it is.

    LOUISIANA HUSSY:
This is not a photo of the copy I got…just an example. I got a copy years ago. Just like this example, it had a frigging Canadian censor stamp on it. I spent way too much for a copy withOUT the stamp. Damn it. What was I thinking? I’ll never display it.

    SAFARI DRUMS:

By and large, as I said, I've stopped buying posters, especially since I am battling cancer and don't know my fate. However, some posters I "need" I'll still try to buy--if it's not too expensive. If you've read my blog, you'll know I've been dabbling with the Bomba series. I'll never display this (or any of them)...but it was cheap and NO ONE else bid  on it. Sold!

DAWN OF THE DEAD 3-D (re-release):
Ooooo I wanted to see this so badly, but never got the chance to. I was thrilled to get a copy of an actual printed poster for this 3D re-release. (The only posters I had seen for it had been digital.)

    BEYOND THE DARKNESS:
This was an exciting pick up for me….although it’s a boring poster. BEYOND YHE DARKNESS is a little-known German EXORCIST ripoff. Better known as MAGDALENA, this movie tried to push an exorcism movie into the realm of porn, as I recall. Posters for it seem to be scarce.

    SATAN'S SATELLITES:
Something else I already had and didn’t need… but what a cool poster!

THE SHE BEAST / THE EMBALMER:
Here’s another copy of a poster I already had. Oh well. It, too, is cool.

THE MAN WITH NINE LIVES (re-release) (linen):

Yes, it’s a re-release. Yes, it’s on linen ( blah!)  But, it’s almost 80 years (1947 release) old and stars Boris Karloff. How could I say no?

    WHITE CHRISTMAS (re-release) (linen):

Yes, another re-release on linen. I’ll never have an original and the re-release does feature a nice layout. It didn’t go for that much either, which surprised me. It will be nice to have up during the holidays…next year. (If I survive…). And it truly is a classic film. (Vera-Ellen, who lip syncs her songs, is just amazing to watch in action. Zowie! Can she move!)

And that is it, boys and girls. Thanks for visiting. I probably won’t be back, but you never know….

    Cheers!

  • Thanks for sharing more of your always interesting images,

For anyone that may not be aware, the Satan's Satellites one sheet is from a feature film release from 1958.
This version was edited down from the 1952  twelve chapter Republic Pictures serial Zombies Of The Stratosphere.

Thanks Hondo. While I have a ZOMBIES OF THE STRATOSPHERE poster as well, I never realized (as I've never seen either) that SATAN'S SATELLITES was an edited down version of the serial.

Flying Disc Man From Mars a twelve chapter Republic Pictures serial from 1950 also suffered the same fate as to be edited down to produce a feature film titled Missile Monsters that was released in 1958.

Missile Monsters and Satan's Satellites were advertised by Republic Pictures as being a double bill programme as seen below on a press sheet.

All the posters though were printed were for the individual film titles.

Do you happen to have any posters for Missile Monsters or Flying Disc Man From Mars in your collection?

  • Leonard Nimoy in a very early screen role in Zombies Of The Stratosphere, Although featured on the one sheet poster he was unbilled in the credits.

I DO have MISSLE MONSTERS...but NOT the one sheet for the serial (which i also did NOT know had been edited down until your mentioning it).

I knew Nimoy was in the film (again--I never saw it), but I had NO IDEA he was on the poster. That's marvelous. Thanks for pointing it out.
