A little advice...

Ok, so I have been organising my hoard and have pulled together all the character sets that I have accumulated over the years.
The vast majority are shiny new US one sheets

I need some advise on how to put a page (or pages) together on my site, mostly for my benefit so I don't re-purchase.
Everything on one page won't cut it!  Way to much.

Thoughts?  Alphabetical?  Style? Genre? Number in the Set?  I am open to any and all suggestions

  • Hey Ves keeping an xls is the best way to catalogue and remember purchases. As for the website i reakon by decade and genre within
  • I’ve done it every which way possible and if I could do it again I would have kept everything in excel... With excel you can import and or mail merge into documents and or html code. It’s starts with the database. You could even keep a column for image name and then mail merge html code to copy and paste.

Good God. I'm such a tech dinosaur. I wish I understood all that stuff enough to be able to do it if I wanted to. My collection has always been managed by writing the contents on the outside of poster tubes, and since I've had a flat file, I have at least some of what's in a couple drawers written down on legal pads inside the drawers. (hangs head in shame)

I find I don't have the discipline for excel or an access db.  I do though usually happy snap it all as it comes in...and Rock, nothing wrong with a bit if paper and pen ?
  • I like the current galleries on your site, Ves! The images are the right size for scrolling, the number on each page is about right and the photos are good too. So I'd recommend you do similar...I'll look forward to seeing them.
  • Hey Tob!

I've missed you!  How is it all going?  Drop me an email when you have a spare 5 mins and let me know how all is with you :)
  • I slapped something together for those inclined to take a look.

    Opinions and critique/advice most welcome!

  • Looks cool, Ves. Character sets are yet another collecting avenue to go down. Have you counted how many different types of collections you have? Should I even ask?  ;)
  • Great presentation so far Ves. Looking forward to seening what else you come up with.
  • Looking good Ves. I like it!
  • Thanks guys...still a work in progress, but seems to be ok for now.

Oh Rock, I have no idea!  Whenever I try to catch up on my cataloguing of the mountain of paper here, new ones spring out at me!  the other day I noticed i own a crapload of posters with an Art theme, and paper on documentaries is creeping in there too!

If the day ever comes that I have someone managed to record it all, I shall begin the task of whittling down and finding new homes for alot it.  That reminds me, I have a few to send your way.  Now where did I put those again...
