  • Well post it now with Aussie spoiler tags...only Down Under will read it.
  • Well, I worked hard all day and I didn't get it done. :(

But here is a gallery with 383 linen one-sheets (it is missing about 10 of them) and it does not yet have the order and condition of the items. But I will add those first thing Monday, and then I will be hard at work on Part Two (non-U.S. linen posters that are 32" x 48" or smaller).

    Go here: http://www.emovieposter.com/online/previews/2014july/parti/

There are just a few left to add, and they will be added Monday morning! Also, on Monday we will provide you with the exact condition grades that will be on the auction. But for now, you can click on any image and see the "super-sized" version. PLEASE COME BACK ON MONDAY SO YOU CAN SEE THE FEW REMAINING IMAGES, PLUS THE EXACT CONDITION OF EVERY ITEM!.

Note that if your browser has a setting to "resize" images to the size of your browser window, then you will need to click on the large image a second time to see it in full super-size form! However, this gallery does not have any of the other features found in our regular auctions, including the ability to search or sort, but the items will be listed on Sunday, July 6th at approximately 3 PM CST, and then you will be able to do all you ordinarily can, including placing bids! All 383+ items will close on Sunday, July 13th beginning at approximately 3 PM CST (NOT 7 PM like our Tuesday and Thursday auctions).

This is a preview gallery only. The auctions start beginning shortly after 3 PM CST on Sunday, July 13th, and at that time, go HERE to bid on the auctions!

  • Greatly anticipating this July Major as well. Thank you and the staff there always for all the hard work, weekly selection and fun.

My oldest is placing her very first bid this week. We're allowing her a one time eMoviePoster "birthday bid" per her request as part of her sweet 16th birthday week. She and her sisters have been on high-alert for anything Disney "Frozen" so they're thrilled to see some starting to appear at auction.
  • Very cool - does she get one bid or has a ceiling?

Wish her best of luck she wins what she likes!

This is beyond cool! Tell me what the limit you gave her was, and I will match it, so she can get two instead of one!

  • Sorry, David. One-time offer to a newer member.

Once when I was in the stock options trading business, a pretty fund raiser asked me to donate to a charity. I told her I would donate the same as what she got my partner to donate. I did not know she was dating him (and they eventually got married)!

He later told me she told him what I said and considered donating $50,000 to see if I would back out, but I think he knew I would have sadly done it, and he did not want to punish me!

    Just don't let me down!

  • Where is Part 2 preview - I am getting itchy
  • Part II is solely linen that is not one-sheets, but is under 32" x 48". It has very few really expensive items, but a lot of affordable decent stuff. Look for that preview on Friday.

Part III is the oversized stuff and the special Star Wars collection, and Part IV is regular rolled posters, folded posters, lobby cards and misc!

  • I can't wait to see what is in Part II-IV. There is some really great stuff in part I.
  • Reg, you probably know this, but Roy Rene IMo) was IMMENSELY popular in Australia, but only made this one movie.

For anyone who does not know, here is more on him (and the movie):

Strike Me Lucky is the 1934 Ken G. Hall Australian mistaken identity kidnapping musical crime comedy ("Australia's greatest comedian on the screen!"; "Cinesound's merry Mo-sical comedy"; "It's Mo [Roy Rene] in the movies").

Rene appears as his most famous character "Mo", a hapless Jewish man noted for his black and white makeup, who finds a young girl in the street, and tries to help her, but it turns out she is the daughter of a rich man, and she is kidnapped, and Mo is blamed for the crime; he goes into the Bush searching for gold and is attacked by Aborigine cannibals, but is ultimately cleared).

The movie starred Roy Rene (as Mo McIsaac), Yvonne Banvard (as a Mae West impersonator), Lorraine Smith, John D'Arcy, and Dan Agar.  Note that this movie is largely unknown by modern day audiences, as is its star Roy Rene, but at one time, this was a legendary movie!

Roy Rene was an early vaudeville actor in Australia in the very early 1900s.  He was the child of Dutch/Jewish parents, and he started performing on stage as a child, and in 1914, when he was 23, he adopted the persona of "Mo", wearing heavy black and white makeup, and this character became as famous in Australia as Charlie Chaplin's Tramp was in America at exactly the same time!

In 1916, he teamed with Nat Phillips, who became "Stiffy", and they formed "Stiffy and Mo", and were a major success until 1925, when they split up after a disagreement.  He performed solo for two years, and in 1927, he reconciled with Phillips, and they again had great success performing as "Stiffy and Mo", but broke up again in 1928.

He started his own act, "Mo and His Merrymakers", but did not have the success of "Stiffy and Mo".  In 1934, he appeared in this, his only movie, and he was billed as "Australia's greatest comedian on the screen".  He preferred the stage, and he performed there until 1946, when he got a radio show.

He passed away in 1954.  He was never known to U.S. audiences, but visiting U.S. celebrities called him a comic genius.

Finally, note that the sequence in the movie where Mo searches for gold in the Bush was inspired by the extremely famous "lost" gold mine called "Lassiter's Reef", which had occurred a few years earlier, and is a fascinating part of Australian history (look it up!).

Thank you so very much, Bruce! My oldest, Vivian, also expresses a very big "Thank you, Mr. Hershenson and eMoviePoster for thinking of me on my birthday!". Watching the girls scroll, point and choose one from 800+ posters on her birthday was so fun.

We were able to get two pieces she and her sisters are crazy about. Thank you again for the consideration and thank you and staff for consistently providing the fun and global-variety of collecting for all of us!
