Tarzan 3-sheet
Hi guys. I have this Tarzan 3-sheet from which I can't find any information online. I believe it was used locally here in the 50s but by the style to me it looks like it could originally be from the 30s? The title has been painted over (Tarzan and His Mate) but at the bottom it only says Tarzan, so I figure it could have been just a general Tarzan poster.
Does anyone know anything about it? What would you estimate this for value? I'm thinking of suggesting a trade to a collector who likes the film and he has a poster that I want, but before it I'd like to hear some kind of valuation. It has originally been linenbacked by the distributor like all big posters did back then, and it has some issues but I think it's a beautiful poster.
(btw this section seems a bit dead but hopefully someone sees it)

LAMP lists Tooker as major printer in the 30s if that helps....
Tarzan Ja Valkoinen Nainen ( Tarzan And His Mate ) Finnish one sheet that would appear to be a re-release from the 1960's that used a stock poster.
Tooker Litho Co. N.Y. ( previously J,H, Hooker Print New York ) above presentation was of concern to me, so I researched into it.
Tooker were printing American MGM one sheet posers for MGM in the 1930s. The following The Girl From Missouri MGM poster is from 1934, You will notice the Tooker name credit appears in a logo form in the body of the poster.
Also this Mutiny On The Bounty 1935 one sheet with the Tooker logo seen within the image.
Tarzan Escapes was originally released in the U.S.A. in 1936. The poster being queried that appears above on the right has the Tarzan Escapes U.S. artwork, but the Finnish translated Tarzan And His Mate title printed on it.
Another thing is that I find the hand written printer's credit as a bit of a mystery.
The poster would have to be a re-release poster from most likely the 1940.s would be my guess.
I wouldn't believe big dollars would be involved here.
It saved money on not buying new art, and duotone printing is way cheaper than full-color.
Given it being a re-release combined with MUCH lesser condition, I would accept any offer you could live with.
Here is a handy checklist to help tell eMoviePoster.com apart from all other major auctions!
Where then was the Finnish film title, and the following sentence in Finish added to the poster, along with the other alterations? In Finland or even possibly the U.S.A. one has to wonder?
