A new addition to my pre-war collection is this Masked Emotions 1929 US One Sheet (having just been linen backed by Jamie).

I could only find a yellow design, so I'm assuming this is the alternative One Sheet option available to exhibitors. 

Likely one of the final batch of releases to still boast William Fox's name.

In the early 1930s Fox made two full-color styles on LOTS of their movies (I suspect if only one is known, it is because the other has not turned up yet).

Thanks Bruce. The logo's match up, so assumed it was also from the first release, as per your yellow example. If a later release, I'm sure 'William' Fox wouldn't have been used either.

I am pleased that there are so many Fox 1930 / 1936 one sheet posters that have survived in the U.S.A.

In Australia I cannot locate any existing image examples of Australian Fox one sheet posters from 1930 to 1936. On saying that I would like to point out that I have previously sighted fourteen one sheet Fox posters from 1930 / 1932.  This took place at a Pickles Major Auction Of Mechnical Music that was held on the 7th November 1998, 

The auction catalogue lists 13 Fox titles. 12 of the titles are for films that appear on Bruce's included link. The other missing title not inclused on Bruce's list is The Spider from 1931. Not sure if the following poster image would be similar of not to the one I had sighted.



The Skyline film that appears on the link showing only one design image is mentioned in the Pickles Auction as having two different designs.

I assumed the posters were printed in Australia and not importrd from America.. My Australian poster knowledge was in its infancy at that time so printing information wasn't really taken in.,

As is often true when a LOT of posters of a single type survive, so many of these Fox 1930 / 1936 one sheet posters exist because of a single amazing find of them! They were found by U.S. poster dealer Bill Luton (Theater Poster Exchange) in the 1980s, and many were bought by mega-collector Richard Allen, who included some in his great book, Reel Art.

As I recall, most of the posters found in this amazing find were in pairs, with two different styles for each title!

One can only hope as time goes on that many more vintage movie collections may turn up once their current owners pass on and their families  decide to sell them off. Is it possible also that there are still some under the floorboards, and in the walls poster collections still waiting to be discovered.

Who knows what gems may turn up one day.
